Virginia vs Boston College Prediction

The Virginia Cavaliers will play the Boston College Eagles in an ACC game on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Virginia comes into this game looking for their first win of the season, while Boston College has yet to defeat a FBS team.

Virginia Preview

The Virginia Cavaliers are 0-4 (0-1) this season after they lost to NC State by a score of 24-21 last week. Virginia trailed for most of the game, but they were able to tie it with 36 seconds left in regulation. Unfortunately, the Cavaliers got a personal foul penalty, due to the quarterback taking off his helmet, which led to great field position for NC State to go and win it. The Cavaliers out gained NC State by a total of 384-319, but turned the ball over twice in the loss. Virginia lost to Tennessee, James Madison, and Maryland in their first three games. The Virginia offense is averaging 20.8 points per game with 254.3 passing yards per game and 79.3 rushing yards per game, while going 36.2% on third down conversions this year. Anthony Colandrea has thrown for 923 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions for the Cavaliers this season. Kobe Pace has rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown, while Malik Washington has caught 28 passes for 459 yards and three scores. The Virginia defense is giving up 37.8 points against per game, but played pretty well against NC State.

Boston College Preview

The Boston College Eagles are 1-3 (0-2) this season after they lost to Louisville by a score of 56-28 in their last game. Boston College allowed 42 points in the first half and trailed 42-14 at the break. The Eagles were out gained by a total of 582-427 and went 6-14 on third downs in the loss. Boston College lost to NIU and Florida State earlier in the season, but did defeat Holy Cross. The Boston College offense is scoring 28 points per game with 242.3 passing yards per game and 158 rushing yards per game, while going 42.9% on third down conversions this year. Thomas Castellanos has thrown for 909 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions, while also rushing for 280 yards and three touchdowns for the Eagles. Kye Robichaux has rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns, while Lewis Bond has caught 16 passes for 246 yards and four scores. The BC defense is allowing 35.5 points against per game and did not have a good day against Louisville in their last game.

Pick

This is an interesting matchup between two of the worst teams in the ACC, but the good news is one of these teams will come away with a win here. Virginia played well enough to get the win last week, but turnovers and penalties killed them. Boston College played well against Florida State in Week 3, but has struggled in their other three games. If Virginia can protect the football, I like them to get the win here, but I am going to take the Cavaliers with the points instead of on the moneyline.
