Warren Gatland closes in on defence coach as clear front runner emerges

Warren Gatland is looking for a new defence coach. Paul Gustard is the front runner, but Mike Forshaw could also be considered. Gatlands has already sacked Stephen Jones and Gethin Jenkins as head coach of Wales. He is also considering Steve Tandy and Rob Howley. He will appoint an attack coach after the Rugby World Cup. The non-executive directors of the Welsh Rugby Union blocked his request to appoint Rob howley as an attacking coach, who was banned for 18 months in 2019 for betting regulations. They also rejected Mark Jones as a replacement.
