Washington at Oregon State line, prediction, odds: Undefeated Huskies underdogs on the road

As the college football regular season nears its conclusion, Week 12 gifts us with some late-season delight. Washington puts its perfect record on the line as the Huskies head to Corvallis for a date with Oregon State. Washington is a small underdog on the road.

The undefeated Huskies continue their quest for a national championship. Of course, star quarterback and likely Heisman Trophy finalist Michael Penix Jr. leads the Huskies. Penix ranks No. 1 in the country with 3,533 passing yards a year after finishing second in that stat. But while the Huskies’ record reads as perfect, they aren’t the only participants in Saturday’s contest with an unbeaten mark.

Oregon State is unbeaten at home this season with wins against Utah and UCLA, and none of the Beavers’ home games have been decided by single-digits. If Oregon State wants to keep its perfect home record intact, it may want to avoid finding itself in a shootout. Easier said than done, of course, when facing an offense as lethal as Washington’s. But controlling the time of possession by riding 1,000-yard rusher Damien Martinez, the conference’s leader in rushing yards should be a priority for the Beavers. Oregon State survived a shootout at Cal (52-40) but did not early in the conference season at Washington State, a 38-35 loss.

Meanwhile, Washington is familiar with shootouts. The Huskies have scored more than 40 points in six of their 10 games and more than 30 in nine of 10. In Pac-12 play, Washington has allowed 30 or more points in four of seven conference games.
