The Buffalo Bills have one of the more formidable remaining schedules to culminate their thus-far disappointing season, starting with a Week 12 visit to the Super Bowl favorites and team with the best record, the Philadelphia Eagles.

With upcoming contests against the Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, and Dolphins, the Bills will have to do it the hard way if they are to qualify for the postseason.

The 9-1 Eagles are by no means the best team analytically but are incredibly versatile and can win in many ways, including grinding out results, which they did last week in Kansas City. Despite struggling offensively, the Eagles found a way to beat the defending Super Bowl champs thanks to key plays in pivotal moments.

Conversely, the Bills have been the architects of their demise, turning the ball over 19 times, the NFL’s fourth-most. Philadelphia is 7-0 when forcing at least one turnover, putting an elevated onus on the Bills and Josh Allen to take care of the rock.

Despite his well-documented turnover issues, Allen is a big-game player and should save his best for the NFC’s top team. He has a golden opportunity to temporarily silence the critics against a lackluster and vulnerable Eagles’ secondary.

The Eagles own the league’s fifth-worst pass defense, conceding 248.1 yards per game and 21 passing touchdowns. The Bills are on the other side of the spectrum, with Allen throwing 22 touchdown passes, the joint-most.

It’s incumbent upon Allen to exploit that secondary while protecting the football. Success against the Eagles’ top-ranked rush defense is unlikely, placing the impetus on Allen to repeat the proficient performance he enjoyed against the Jets at home last week.

Buffalo, though, has been woeful on the road, losing to the Jets, Patriots, and Bengals, with its lone victory coming against one of the league’s worst home teams, the Washington Commanders.

The Bills’ chances of upsetting the Eagles fall squarely on Allen’s shoulders. The Eagles’ defense is almost impenetrable on the ground, conceding a league-low 76.5 yards per game. Buffalo’s offensive line and overall run attack aren’t good enough to dominate the line of scrimmage, elevating the importance of Allen’s influence.

He has thrown for over 257 yards in seven of 11 games, including four of the last five. Considering the Eagles’ inability to prevent the deep pass, look for Allen to step up and enjoy a proficient aerial outing.

A.J. Brown endured a rare off day last week, primarily due to the increased attention he drew from the Chiefs defense, who doubled, even triple-teamed him throughout. Brown will be highly motivated to redeem last week’s outlier, which doesn’t bode well for the Bills, who’ve allowed seven receiving touchdowns to wide receivers since Week 8.

Eagels’ wide receivers have six receiving touchdowns since Week 8, tied for the second-most in the NFL.

After not scoring a touchdown in the first three games, Brown has gotten into the end zone six times in the last seven games.
