Week 3 Preview: Alabama, Baylor out to avoid more Sun Belt upsets

No. 2 Alabama and No. 17 Baylor are playing Sun Belt teams on Saturday. Alabama is a 7-touchdown favorite against Louisiana-Monroe. Texas State is an underdog against Baylor. Kentucky and Arkansas are also playing FCS opponents. The ninth-ranked Wildcats play Youngstown State. No 10 Razorbacks play Missouri State, coached by Bobby Petrino.  Arkansas is ranked 10th in the latest AP Top 25.

No. 12 BYU plays No. 25 Oregon. BYU is trying to get consecutive wins over ranked teams for the second straight season. Oregon has a chance to bounce back after a 49-3 loss to Georgia.

Caleb Williams unseated preseason first-team AP All-America quarterback Spencer Rattler at Oklahoma. He followed coach Lincoln Riley to Southern California this past offseason. Williams is second in the Pac-12 with 331 yards a game.

15 — Defending Sun Belt champion Louisiana-Lafayette's winning streak. 80 — Consecutive AP poll appearances for Notre Dame since Sept. 17, 2017. Marcus Freeman is the first Irish coach to start his career with a 0-3 start. 1,349 — Games the Texas Longhorns will have played in their history.

No. 17 Texas plays its third consecutive home game against UTSA. The Roadrunners got in the Top 25 for the first time last year and have gone to overtime in both games this season.

Jimbo Fisher is making $9 million a season and signed through 2031. Texas A&M was stunned at home by Appalachian State last week. The Aggies play No. 10 Arkansas in suburban Dallas, then have trips to Mississippi State and No 2 Alabama.

The Aggies are 1-5 and have an open date at the end of their current stretch.
