Last summer’s European champions England are now chasing global football glory in the Women’s World Cup, which got underway on Thursday in New Zealand and Australia.

The Lionesses, who have been terrific over the past year under Sarina Wiegman, face Haiti in Brisbane this morning (10.30am BST kick-off) in their first Group D fixture of the tournament.

What odds are England to win the World Cup 2023?

England are 7/2 second favourites to win the 2023 Women’s World Cup, with only USA ahead of the Lionesses at 9/4 in the betting.

There is no doubt that England have one of the best squads in the competition and players such as Ella Toone and Keira Walsh are hoping to replicate their heroics of last summer.

The achievement of winning the Euros in 2022, defeating Germany in the final, could give the Lionesses an advantage in the later rounds of the World Cup.

While the Americans have more World Cup experience and may be formidable opponents for England and the other finalists, many people believe this could be the Lionesses’ greatest opportunity yet for the biggest prize in the women’s game.

England Women's World Cup 2023 group winner odds

England have been drawn in a group with China, Denmark and Haiti at this year’s World Cup and the Lionesses are firm favourites to come out on top of their mini-league.

The Danes are likely to be their closest opponents and the Chinese can also pose a threat, although it is unlikely that the Haitians, who are 500/1 to lift the trophy, will trouble England.

The Lionesses face Haiti on Saturday at 10.30am BST in their first fixture of the tournament and are heavy favourites to pick up all three points.

England Women’s World Cup 2023 odds to reach the final

England have performed well in recent times and were magnificent in the European Championship final last summer when beating Germany at Wembley Stadium.

Wiegman and her side will be aiming for another final in August, and this time they will be looking to bring home the biggest prize of them all.

It’s not yet clear what sort of route they could face on the way to the final but they will be hoping to avoid the United States, the favourites, if they are to make it all the way on August 20.

England Golden Boot Women’s World Cup 2023 odds

The Lionesses will have lots of star performers at this year’s World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand and of course will need to find the back of the net if they are to go far in the competition.

The forward line is without Ellen White, who has retired, and Beth Mead through injury, leaving the door open for several of England’s attacking players to write their names in the history books.

One of those is Aston Villa striker Rachel Daly, who won the Golden Boot in the WSL last season with 22 goals, and was also player of the season.

She is 10/1 to be top scorer at the World Cup and her recent run of form means she could have the opportunity from the start to make her presence felt on the international stage.

Another is Alessia Russo, who won the goal of the tournament at the Euros for her inventive back heel against Sweden. The Arsenal forward has scored 11 goals for the Lionesses in her 21 appearances and could be one to watch in this market, priced at 14/1.
