What single-seater drivers not in F1 deserve a chance at a grand prix debut?
Nyck de Vries made his Formula 1 debut at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. The 2019 Formula 2 champion became only the second rookie to race in Formula1 this year after Zhou Guanyu. There are only 20 seats up for grabs in F1 each season. Drivers from the Formula2, FIA F3, IndyCar, Super Formula and W Series championships are competing for the remaining seats. Oscar Piastri, last year's Formula 2 champion, secured a place on the F1 grid in 2023. Felipe Drugovich has been signed by Aston Martin. Theo Pourchaire is still in with a strong chance of securing second place in the Formula Two championship. Colton Herta is the most outstanding young American driver currently on IndyCar roster. He is only restricted by his superlicence points.
