How a backwards step could save Herta's F1 superlicence bid
Colton Herta needs 40 superlicence points to race in Formula 1 in 2023. He is currently short of that because of his poor performance in IndyCar. Red Bull wants to enter him in a series during the off-season. The Indian and Asian Formula Regional Series is a good option. The FR Asian series would also be a useful alternative. It awards points on a sliding scale. There are only six grands prix before the end of the 2022 season. This is not enough to give Hert a licence. If Red Bulls can run him during practice sessions before that time, he could get the points he needs.
