White Sox vs. Braves prediction and odds for Friday, July 14 (Bet on Atlanta)

The Atlanta Braves have been the best team in baseball over the last month (or maybe even more), and they’ve done it with an insane offensive output.

Atlanta ranks No. 1 in the league in OPS (.831) which is a good amount higher than the next closest team – the Texas Rangers – at .801.

The Braves also have 20 more home runs than any other team in baseball in 2023.

If that offensive output continues, the team is going to be tough for anyone to beat, never mind just the Chicago White Sox on Friday night.

Chicago is in fourth place in the AL Central and has really taken a step back the past two seasons. Michael Kopech (3-7, 4.08 ERA) gets the ball for the White Sox in this game against Atlanta’s Charlie Morton (9-6, 3.43 ERA).

Let’s dive into the odds and make a best bet for this game:

There are a couple of key stats that jump off the board to me when breaking down this matchup, and they favor the Braves in a big way:

Braves vs. White Sox numbers to know

Michael Kopech has a 5.58 Fielding Independent Pitching on the season, 1.50 higher than his ERA. The White Sox are just 6-10 in his starts in 2023.

Charlie Morton has allowed more than four earned runs just once this season. The veteran right-hander has posted a 3.22 ERA and 5-3 team record in eight starts since his worst outing of 2023.

The White Sox are 27th in Major League Baseball in OPS and 23rd in runs scored. Atlanta ranks No. 1 and No. 3 in those respective categories.

Given those numbers, it’s hard to make a case for Chicago in this game.

Until the Braves cool off, I’m going to keep betting on them.
