Chicago White Sox

The White Sox were able to eke out an 8-7 win over the Cardinals last Friday, but lost the weekend games 3-0 and 4-3. Chicago is currently sitting at 38-54 overall and in fourth place in the AL Central Division.

For the starter role on Friday, the White Sox are going with Michael Kopech. This year in 16 starts Kopech is 3-7 with a 4.08 ERA. He has 97 Ks in 86.0 innings. Kopech is 13-20 with a 3.77 ERA in 89 career games (49 starts).

Atlanta Braves

Over on the Braves’ side, they lost to the Rays 10-4 on Sunday but otherwise had wins 2-1 and 6-1 in their series last weekend. Atlanta holds a record of 60-29, tops in the MLB and 8.5 games up on the Marlins in the NL East.

In the starting pitcher slot Friday, the Braves will send out Charlie Morton. This year in 17 starts Morton is 9-6 with a 3.43 ERA and 111 Ks in 97.0 innings. Morton is 125-107 with a 4.00 ERA in 340 career games (339 starts).

The Sox have hit the under in 32 of their last 54 and the money line in 37 of their last 91 games. Chicago has hit the over in 32 of their last 83 games.

Meanwhile, the Braves have hit the over in 45 of their last 80 games and the run line in 15 of the last 17 games. Atlanta has hit the money line in 59 of their last 88 games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with the Braves here. The line's probably too thick to mess with, but we should have a fun starter matchup regardless. Morton has four earned combined over his last three starts in 17.0 innings on 15 hits and six walks. He’s 3-0 in that time. As for Kopech, he’s got six earned over his last three starts in 12.1 combined innings on 16 walks and 14 hits. Kopech is just 0-2 in his last trio however, and hasn’t gone more than 4.1 innings in any of them. If Morton can put up another good start here Atlanta should be in solid shape.
