Who will win the national championship in 2022?

Last season this column predicted both Ohio State and Alabama to miss the College Football Playoff. Wisconsin won the Big Ten and reached the playoff for the first time. Georgia won national championship.  Predictions are mostly made for fun. Last season's volatility that included Ohio, Clemson and Oklahoma having long conference championship streaks snapped might be tough to repeat. It's cool to be right, but predictions are boring.

There are three teams that will start the season ranked but finish unranked in 2022. No. 12 Oklahoma State, No 16 Miami and No 19 Arkansas are the teams to watch.

Penn State, Kansas State and UCF are the teams that will start the season unranked but finish ranked.

The conference champions of the American Athletic Conference, Big 12, Atlantic Coast Conference and Big Ten will be announced. The winner of each conference will go on to play for the national championship in 2022. The winners of these conferences are: American, American East, Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, Pac-12, SEC and MAC.

Nebraska lost the national championship game in 2022. Next up for the Cornhuskers is Matt Campbell from Iowa State.

There are six New Year's Bowls in 2022. Michigan will play USC, Georgia will take on Kansas State, Houston will face Oklahoma and North Carolina State will go against Texas A&M.

No. 2 Ohio State will play No. 3 Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl. No 1 Alabama will take on No 4 Oregon in Peach Bowl in New Jersey.
