Montreal's general manager Kent Hughes is coy about who he'll take with the No. 1 selection in the NHL draft. The draft starts Thursday night with Round 1 at the Bell Centre at 7 p.m.
The Montreal Canadiens are going to pick Shane Wright at No. 1 in the NHL draft on Thursday night. The 18-year-old OHL's Kingston Frontenacs centre scored 94 points in 63 games last season. Some scouts believe Wright has been rated No 1 for so long that some scouts have started to see too much of him. Craig Button, TSN's respected director of scouting, believes Wright is the best player in this draft. He has said he believes he will be a difference-maker. He compared Wright to Patrice Bergeron. In 2009, John Tavares was picked No 2 in a draft by the New York Islanders.
