Wrap from a big weekend of finals footy in Toowoomba
Toowoomba Rugby League hosted finals on the Saturday, August 27 and August 28.
Warwick 18 (Jeffrey Ross, Nick Carrie, Damien Beresford tries, 3 goals) defeated Dalby 16 (Dylan Nobbs, Lleyton Dodd, Jack Welsh tries Alexander Lindsay 2 goals). Under 19s game was played in Toowoomba. It was an exciting game.
Oakey made it to the finals of the Women's competition. They beat Valleys 26-14. Oakeys will play Goondiwindi next week. Anna Dingley scored a double for Valley's.
Valleys beat Warwick 24-10 in the reserve grade elimination final. Roosters started well and raced to a 18-0 lead. Cowboys grabbed two tries through Joe Wagner and Jeffrey Ross. Jesse Martin's try in 50th minute sealed the match for Valleys.
Goondiwindi beat Dalby 40-30. Lyhkan King-Togia scored two tries. David McGrady scored with five minutes left to break the deadlock. Goondiwi will play another game next week.
President Cup finalists Highfields beat Ipswich Brothers 34-24 in the Under 19 Qualifying final. Highfield's will play Gatton Hawks next weekend. Ipswitch Brothers will live another day and play Warwick next week.
Newtown 50-4 Goondiwindi in the 2022 Toowoomba Sports Club Women's competition. Newtown will play Gatton in Major Semi Final next week.
Last year's premiers Gatton beat Highfields 24-22. Gatta secured four grades at Gatton next week. Toowoomba played finals in Toovale on Saturday.
Wattles Warriors beat Highfields Eagles 52-14 in the qualifying final on Sunday. Wattles will play Gatton in a major semi final next Sunday for a place in grand final. Highfield's have a consolation game against Goondiwindi next Saturday.
