Wyndham Championship odds 2023: The favorite is coming off a missed cut and it's not the guy you think

Don't worry, bettors. The sportsbooks are not asking you to bet Justin Thomas as the favorite this week at the Wyndham Championship. That would be CrazyTown, USA, with Thomas coming off his fifth missed cut in his last seven starts on the PGA Tour.

They are asking you to bet on another big name coming off a MC, though. That would be Sungjae Im, who is 16-1 on the DraftKings Sportsbook to win in Greensboro. Im, who has not won on tour since October of 2021 at the Shriners, missed his second cut in three starts at TPC Twin Cities, but did have a 20th-place finish at the Open sandwiched in between. He also had consecutive top 30s at the Travelers and the Rocket Mortgage right before going across the pond, so he has something that resembles form entering the final event of the regular season.

Thomas, who sits at 79th in the FedEx Cup Standings (the top 70 get into the playoffs), is at 28-1, behind the likes of Hideki Matsuyama (18-1), Sam Burns (20-1), Shane Lowry (22-1) and Adam Scott (22-1). Rising star Ludvig Aberg joins Thomas at 28-1 as he continues to make his case for a captain's pick on the European Ryder Cup team.

Akshay Bhatia, who's also fighting for a playoff spot despite a maiden win at the Barracuda, is 60-1.
