Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez has on-air blunder that could get him ‘in trouble’

Yankees legend Alex Rodriguez has long been an opponent to the launch angle acceptance by today’s MLB players. In an effort to explain his reasoning, he made an unfortunate analogy on ESPN’s alternate broadcast of the Mets-Red Sox “Sunday Night Baseball” game, the “KayRod Cast.”

In a segment of the program, alongside Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay, Rodriguez demonstrated what he feels is the proper way to swing.

“Posture up and [swing] right down, I’m going to get in trouble, it’s like you’re punching a little person. With your right hand and that knee down, boom, right there. Now you’re on top of the baseball.”

Fans immediately took to Twitter to air their displeasure with Rodriguez, who has been taking it in the chin from former players, too, latest blunder. He admits that he’s going to get “in trouble” in the middle of saying what likely will land him in hot water. So why say it?

No discipline has been handed down yet, but ESPN will have to answer for this soon.

Rodriguez and Kay debuted the “KayRod Cast” during the 2022 season after ESPN saw the success of the “Manningcast,” which is an alternate broadcast of “Monday Night Football.” Previously, Rodriguez was part of the “Sunday Night Baseball” broadcast team, but the schedule was too arduous given that he was stepping into an ownership role with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

With the “KayRod Cast,” he can focus on a handful of games as opposed to committing all of his Sundays from April through September.
