Best MLB prop bets today: SuperDraft player prop picks for Saturday 9/2

Every weekend, you sit back and think about the week that was. The highs, the lows and how fast time goes by. One minute, you're celebrating the arrival of summer and the next, you're thinking about when to close the pool and take out all those hoodies that were packed away for months.

The same is true in sports betting. Any honest gambler needs to take stock in how they did with the good, the bad and the ugly. We haven't been shy about that and it will remain as such. Our record this week was 6-7 with three pushes. With the weekend in full swing, it's time to take stock of what worked and what didn't. And for that reason, we'll head back over to SuperDraft to run it back with some of our favorites from the week, in addition to one new player for the week ahead.

SuperDraft to pick your favorite over/unders via SuperDraft's Fantasy Props feature, bringing you closer to the action while having a chance to win cash prizes. Win 3X the amount wagered if your two-legged player prop parlay hits, and watch your potential payout rise with each additional leg you pile onto your parlay.

Below, we'll break down four of our favorite player props on SuperDraft for Saturday night's MLB slate. Users don't necessarily have to parlay all four picks together, though. Instead, you could make separate two-legged parlays to increase your win probability or attempt to hit it big if all four picks come through.

Yordan Alvarez, OF, Astros vs. Yankees - OVER 1.5 bases

Luis Severino has turned his season around through the last two starts, but is that going to continue in Houston? The Yankees starter didn't allow a run in either start against the Tigers and Nationals, dropping his ERA from a whopping 7.98 to a still bad, but nicer number of 6.64. The difference this time around is that the Astros won't be confused with those two other teams anytime soon.

And you don't have to go back too far to see how it went for Severino last time against Houston. New York lost 7-3 on Aug. 4, with Severino surrendering five runs in four innings. Notably, one of those runs were courtesy of a Alvarez home run, who was 1-for-3 on the day. It's a small sample size, but Alvarez has two hits in five at-bats against Severino. Alvarez's hitting streak ended at five games and we expect him to start a new one on Saturday, perhaps even with a ball that finds the outfield seats.

Julio Rodriguez, OF, Mariners @ Mets - OVER 7.5 fantasy points

There tends to be a pretty good rule in the sports betting world — ride the wave. In other words, don't try to bet when the streak will end. Instead keep going until the wheels fall off. And as far as wheels go, Rodriguez isn't going to the mechanic anytime soon. He's riding a 14 game hitting streak and has multiple hits in eight of his last 11 games. Earlier in the week, the Mariners star sat out and voided our bet, but we will go back to him on Saturday night.

David Peterson is pitching for the Mets tonight, and Rodriguez mashes lefties, batting .317 against them this season. He might only have five home runs, but that rate is right on track with his numbers against right handed pitchers. Rodriguez finds his way to at least eight fantasy points tonight and it wouldn't be surprising if it came with one swing of the bat.

Marcus Semien, 2B, Rangers vs. Twins - OVER 1.5 bases

Much like the first two, we are going back to someone we relied on during the week. Semien singled for us to cash our bet with him just a few days ago. This time, we'll take the next step and ask for two bases on Saturday night. Out of everyone in the Rangers lineup, no one has faced Dallas Keuchel more. Semien has 43 at-bats against the Twins starter and is batting .279.

History says that Semien will only find one base tonight. He has a six game hitting streak going against Keuchel, and hasn't managed more than one base in any of those games. But Keuchel isn't the same pitcher that he once was. Facing him for the first time since 2021, Semien had went 1-for-2 with a walk in their meeting on Aug. 27. He's experienced some success against lefties in 2023 and should be another candidate to hit a home run tonight.

Blake Snell, SP, Padres vs. Giants - OVER 8 strikeouts

And finally, we welcome someone to tonight's picks that hasn't been part of this week's slate already. Snell's been a strikeout machine this season, sitting at No. 4 in the league with 193. Tonight, Snell gets a matchup against the team that's struck out the fourth-most in all of baseball — the San Francisco Giants.

In one start against the Giants this season, Snell notched 11 Ks. In his four starts against them, Snell has yet to finish with less than eight Ks. Owning a 31.1-percent strikeout rate, among the best in the league, Snell is primed for another big game while facing a lineup that was punched out six times by Michael Wacha on Friday night. Take the OVER.
