Galway Plate runner-by-runner guide

HEWICK

WICKER man. Won this last year but 12lb higher this time. Ground has gone against him and this is a big ask off top-weight.

KILCRUIT

KIL thrill. Touch of class. Bolted up off a 12lb lower mark at Punchestown in April and could be hard to beat off a lovely racing weight.

EASY GAME

GAME lad. Experienced but no secrets from the handicapper. Testing ground may find him out.

FURY ROAD

ROAD runner. Grade 1 winner over fences, highly tried last season and has the right profile to run well.

LIFETIME AMBITION

LOVE Life. Bold jumper and stays this trip well. Bags of experience and will handle the ground. Leading claims for a shrewd trainer.

ANDY DUFRESNE

OLD Duffer. Out of sorts for the past season or so and plenty to prove now.

FINAL ORDERS

RIGHT Order. Easy winner on the level last month. Jumps well and has the running style to have a big say.

ENNISKERRY

MERRY Kerry. Unexposed chaser and comes here in good heart. Must go close with a solid course record.

VISIONARIAN

SLICK Vision. Won Grade 3 Chase here last year. Sharp after recent Flat spin. Dangerous.

CIEL DE NEIGE

CIEL of disapproval. Experienced, but never won a handicap over fences or hurdles.

FOXY JACKS

JACKSON five. In the form of his life this summer but this is tough.

AUTHORIZED ART

ART attack. Pacey and goes well from the front, but ground has gone against him.

THE GOFFER

GOFF the chain. Tough and stays well. Won a big pot last season and must be a big player.

ASH TREE MEADOW

NATURAL talent. Fantastically consistent and on the upgrade. Has been peaked for this.

A WAVE OF THE SEA

ALL At Sea. A poor track record and jumping likely to be exposed.

GABBYS CROSS

GIFT of the Gab. Easy winner of last year’s Blazers and has the form to go close.

FIGHTER ALLEN

NO Fight. Lacks a touch of class and unlikely to figure in this company.

HOLLOW GAMES

GAME on. Unexposed over fences and has always promised to land a big prize.

HURRICANE GEORGIE

GEORGIE NO. Unseated at the first last year and has struggled for form since.

LIEUTENANT COMMAND

COMMAND prompt. Talented, but ground against him.

UPPING THE ANTI

UP for it. Steady improver with a great record when fresh.

BORN BY THE SEA

BY BY. Out of form and likely to come up short.

RESERVES:

GEVREY — In cracking form this year. Strongly fancied if getting a run.

HEREDITARY RULE — Won well at Punchestown Festival but soft ground an issue.

VINA ARDANZA — Lightly raced but likely to find this tough.

Galway Plate tip

HOLLOW GAMES can make his point in the Tote Galway Plate.

Trainer Gordon Elliott is mob handed in this valuable contest and his unexposed seven-year-old could prove to be very well treated.

He has only had four starts over fences and it would be a huge surprise if there was not more left in the tank.

It’s a big ask for last year’s winner Hewick to repeat given the ground has gone against him.

Willie Mullins’ Kilcruit must be respected and Final Orders is another that has more to offer.
