Horse Racing Tips Thursday 16th February 2023 best bets and most tipped horses

There could be some movement in the Cheltenham odds for next month today as there's a Grade 2 Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Sandown Park, while the Grand Artillery Gold Cup is another feature race on a decent card. There's alternative racing at Newcastle, Clonmel, Leicester and Chelmsford and we preview the action here and pick out some of the most eye-catching naps of the day...

Jamie Snowden's You Wear It Well is a best-priced 20/1 for next month's Mares' Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, but the progressive six-year-old could look to book her place in the imminent showpiece event by claiming victory in Sandown's Grade 2 event at 14:25 today. Proving extremely popular with our racing tipsters, a whopping seven of them - including current second placed tipster Andrew Bladen from the Wolverhampton Express & Star - have napped the Snowden contender, who is a well-fancied 11/8 chance for today's event.

One of the highlights on Sandown's National Hunt card today is the Grand Artillery Gold Cup at 15:00 and The Duke from The Yorkshire Post has napped the 7/4 favourite Broken Halo, who lines up for LBdr Jody Sole and Paul Nicholls. Last seen finishing eighth, the Ditcheat raider will need to improve on that effort and could have a notable rival in the shape of former top class chaser Tout Est Permis, who is an eye-catching 13/2 chance and is the best bet of Farringdon from the Morning Star.

Other eye-catching naps at Sandown on Thursday include the 9/1 chance Missed Tee, who lines up in the 16:45 contest and is the best bet of Chris Wright from the Liverpool Echo, while Picksfromthepaddock from the Norwich Evening News is taking a real chance on the 25/1 outsider Swinging London in the 13:15 race at the Esher track.

Newcastle will host some alternative Jumps racing on Thursday and there's an extremely popular nap in the shape of Tom Lacey's Ivetwiggedit, who is a red-hot 4/5 favourite for the 16:30 contest. Three tipsters including the likes of Lee Sobot of The Yorkshire Evening Post and Whistler of The Sunday Telegraph have napped the jolly, who was a winner at Doncaster last time out and is attempting to make it two wins on the bounce in today's event.

Postdata from the Racing Post currently leads the naps table with a profit of £27.98 and that tipster heads to Chelmsford City's all-weather card and Postdata has napped the 6/1 chance Got No Dollars in the 18:30 event. A course winner, the Stuart Williams-trained raider will have the benefit of bottom weight in today's event and looks a potential value play in what is a competitive contest this evening.

Other eye-catching best bets on Thursday include the well-fancied Flann, who is an 11/8 shot for the 15:45 at Leicester and is the nap of the day for Moorestyle from the Daily Star Sunday, while at Clonmel's afternoon National Hunt card Rory Paddock from the Jersey Evening Post has napped the 2/1 shot Lovely Reaction in the 16:00 race.
