Horse Racing Tips Thursday 5th October 2023 best bets and most tipped horses

There are five horse racing fixtures taking place on Thursday and the racing gets under way at Lingfield Park on the all-weather at 13:40, while there's alternative Flat racing today at Salisbury, Thurles and Chelmsford. There's a solitary National Hunt fixture at Warwick completing the day's action and we preview it all here and pick out some of the most eye-catching naps from our racing naps table. We also take a look at some of the big racing stories hitting the headlines ahead of a busy weekend's action...

Chris Wright sits pretty at the top of the naps table with a profit of £42.39 and the Liverpool Echo tipster will head to Lingfield Park this afternoon to try and extend his lead at the top of the naps table and he has napped Wadacre Grace in the 15:45 contest. Around the 11/2 mark, at the time of writing, the Charlie Johnston-trained four-year-old is a course-and-distance winner, but has been struggling of late to get her head in front. Now 5lbs lower than her last winning mark, if she can recapture some form from earlier in the campaign then she's more than capable of landing today's prize. However, there could be a leading contender in the shape of Silver Screen, who is the best bet of the day for Lawrence Taylor, who sits in third place in the naps table with a profit of £31.50. Silver Screen is around the same price as Wadacare Grace and will have the burden of top weight, but shaped with promise last time out when fourth at Lingfield and is entitled to improve on that effort. Arguably, the most likely winner of the top three of the naps table is second placed tipster Picksfromthepaddock's selection, who heads to the 17:35 at Salisbury and has napped Military Tycoon. Hugo Palmer's charge is still a maiden, but has shown promise and off a mark of 71 looks more than capable of landing the finale.

Naps Table Leaders Naps

  • Chris Wright - 15:45 Lingfield - Wadacre Grace
  • Picksfromthepaddock - 17:35 Salisbury - Military Tycoon
  • Lawrence Taylor - 15:45 Lingfield - Silver Screen

A brace of tipsters head into Thursday's racing having racked up two winning naps on the bounce and the first of those is Newmarket from the Racing Post, who has napped the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Point Given, who is a 7/1 chance for the 14:57 at Salisbury. Lee Sobot of The Yorkshire Evening Post is the second tipster bidding for a hat-trick of winning tips in a row and he also heads to Salisbury's Flat card today for his best bet and he has napped the Kevin Philippart De Foy-trained Bint Al Daar in the 17:02 race.

Horseracing.net says: "A half-brother to the top class Toormore, Point Given has failed to get his head in front yet with a brace of fourth placed finishes at Pontefract and Doncaster, but the Blue Point colt can finally break his maiden tag today at Salisbury. He could be a performer that improves for the winter on his back, but he's likely to continue on an upward curve for the rest of the day and looks capable of landing a blow at decent odds in the 14:57 contest"
