Jody Townend maintains big race family tradition at Galway Festival

Jody Townend won the Connacht Hotel Handicap on Great White Shark in the opening day of the Galway Festival. It was her first win since her return to race riding earlier in February. She broke her T12 vertebrae in a schooling fall. Paul Townen won his first big race here in 2008. He went on to become a champion jockey. The 21-year-old jockerer is from Midleton in Cork. Dalton Highway finished second and Litterale Ci third in Monday's highlight. Willie Mullins won €120,000 feature for his horse. His horse had a procedure last month.
