The Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Seattle Kraken on Thursday, 2-0. They take on the Calgary Flames on Saturday and conclude their four-game road trip in Edmonton on Sunday. Pittsburgh is now 12-12-4 on the road this season.

Tristan Jarry (17-18-4, 2.56, .912) played very well in the loss, stopping 26 shots. However, with the team playing on back-to-back nights it will be Alex Nedeljkovic (9-4-4, 2.67, .915) getting the start. Nedeljkovic gave up five goals in his last start and has now allowed 14 total goals over his last five games. The Penguins are still one of the top goaltending teams in the NHL, fifth in goals-against average (2.70).

The shutout loss snapped a hot streak for the Penguins, as they had produced 19 total goals in their previous four games. However, this is also a team that has scored two or fewer goals in five of their last 10. Sidney Crosby leads the team with 32 goals and 62 points. The Penguins are 22nd in goals per game (2.95), but their power-play has been terrible, ranked 29th at 14.6%.

The Edmonton Oilers defeated the St. Louis Blues in overtime on Wednesday, 3-2. That concluded their five-game homestand which saw the club go 2-2-1. The Oilers are 19-8-2 at home this season. This team takes on the Kraken in Seattle on Saturday, but this preview was written prior to the conclusion of that contest.

Edmonton trailed by two in this game, but Zach Hyman scored twice to force overtime. That is when Connor McDavid scored the game-winning goal 4:34 into the extra session. McDavid finished with a goal and two assists and leads the club with 94 points, including 72 assists. Edmonton is sixth in goals per game (3.54) and third on the power play (27.7%).

Stuart Skinner (27-13-2, 2.68, .904) was outstanding in the victory, stopping 32 shots. He will go against Seattle on Saturday, so look for Calvin Pickard (7-3-0, 2.53, .905) to get the start here. Pickard has allowed three goals in each of his last three starts and has allowed 11 total goals over his last five games. The Oilers are 12th in goals-against average (2.98).

The way that Edmonton has played Pittsburgh in the last four meetings, this game should easily go over. They have scored at least five goals in each of the last four meetings. The question is whether Pittsburgh can score at least two in this game, which they have done in four of the last five meetings.

Pittsburgh was shut out by Seattle on Thursday but had produced 19 total goals in their previous four games and have scored at least four goals in five of their last seven contests. Look for Edmonton to win, 5-3.
