Eight races will be run and won at Morphettville Parks on Saturday. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:27) Skycity (Bm90) 1000m

Back Me

2 Queman (Bet Now:$2.00) looks to be absolutely humming. Team Oxlade trained gelding that has been kept on ice since an electric first up win on the Parks track where he produced sustained speed from the front and gave nothing else a look in. His trial last week at Oakbank…if you are a trial lover, you will be in love with what you saw from him. He’ll jump on the bunny and prove very hard to run down.

Danger

6 Magic Max (Bet Now:$5.00) has an awful racing pattern but if he’s within range, he has the finale to win. He resumed a fortnight back over this track/distance where he was smashed in betting but got too far back and spotted those in front too much head start but worked home quite well behind Mouse Almighty. Just needs to be within range and he can finish over the top for sure.

Long Shot

5 Star Hills (Bet Now:$13.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He comes through the Queman race from a few weeks back when not being able to use the inside gate to advantage and tried hard, finding the line in a solid effort when third to Queman. Hard fit now off a trial at Oakbank and he does have a liking for the Parks track so with that in mind, he’s a winning threat.

Race 2. (14:02) Claymore Wines (Bm66) 1950m

Back Me

8 Regal Valour (Bet Now:$5.50) on top for me. Phillip Stokes trains this gelding, who should be fourth up and just about at peak fitness. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago when back in the run and did make up solid headway, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Manzala. That was his first run in four weeks so with room for improvement, he rates highly.

Danger

2 Dr Dee Dee (Bet Now:$9.50) is a definite winning chance. He ran over this track/distance two weeks back where he was back early before making a mid race move to be near the front and he tried his guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Trumpsta. I am convinced he is racing well and going well enough to threaten here.

Long Shot

4 Eaglelou (Bet Now:$10.00) is dangerous with his best. Magro/Bush trained gelding that resumed over 1550m here two weeks back where he looked in need of the run and that’s how it eventuated when back and making up minimal headway behind Prince Jofra. That form does read quite well for a race like this and with good upside to come, he’s dangerous.

Race 3. (14:42) Petaluma Hcp (C2) 1250m

Back Me

1 Hallstatt (Bet Now:$3.30) looks to be in for a good prep for the Richards/Moyle. He was kept very safe in betting when resuming over 1000m here two weeks ago. He got back in the run and tracked up nicely but was never really a winning threat when second to Foster Street. Good improvement to come, 1/1 second up and rising to 1250m, he’s the one to beat for mine.

Danger

6 Tahnee Treasure (Bet Now:$16.00) is a mare with upside/timing. Peter Hardacre trained mare that comes to town off a maiden win at Bordertown. She got into a lovely spot just off the speed before angling into clear air, built the revs and in a driving finish, she kicked on strongly to get the win. Enormous upside to come and the stable rarely misfire when they come to town.

Long Shot

2 Tan Tat Beau (Bet Now:$9.50) has to be given another chance for the Bain/Taylor camp. She hasn’t raced since October 22 when back on the fence and looked to be going well but as soon as you had that thought, she went backwards and something went amiss given she was tailed off last. She is a handy mare when right so I think she deserves another look.

Race 4. (15:22) Twilight Races At Morphettville (64) 1400m

Back Me

6 Pretty Reliable (Bet Now:$4.60) is capable with her best. Team Alexander trained mare that is four weeks between runs since racing over the mile on the course proper here where she had a suck run in transit and was there to win but didn’t finish the race off at all behind Jenkins. Back to 1400m looks a big tick and the depth here, as a whole, is very much on the thin side.

Danger

7 Missile Star (Bet Now:$19.00) only comes off a maiden win but this isn’t a deep race so she commands respect given she does bring winning form. The win came over 1200m at Strathalbyn where she gave them a start and a beating, launching late from the back to win and win well. That may be the key to her. Ride her cold, which isn’t really ideal for this track, but she has upside/progression compared to most.

Long Shot

Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 8 Chilko Lake (Bet Now:$12.00). This mare resumed on Gawler Cup Day over 1200m where she got back to near last in the run and did make up solid headway without threatening behind Exalted Dame. Much better set up this time around and if she can settle closer in the run, she’ll be dangerous.

Race 5. (16:02) Dominant (Bm74) 2250m

Back Me

2 Ammo Amor (Bet Now:$2.15) is on the seven day back up for Kristi Evans after racing over 2000m last Saturday on the course proper where he got back in the run and was chasing from the outset when the sprint went on but he picked up and found the line strongly when second to the in form Sir Kingsford. Racing like a rise to 2250m will be no issue and brings strong form lines.

Danger

7 Puissy Galore (Bet Now:$5.50) is the one with upside/progression and comes here off a win, which was a maiden win, but she spanked them at Strathalbyn where she got into a dream spot behind the speed before making the move to clear air, wind into her work and she made a mess of them late to win and win well. A mare on the up, she rates highly.

Long Shot

3 Canford (Bet Now:$9.00) is a chance. He ran in a Jericho Qualifier at Gawler where he was ridden like the best horse in the race by Livesay and tried his guts out but just didn’t run the trip out behind Warrandyte Road. Back in distance i do like and he will be strong at the end compared to some of these who may be struggling late.

Race 6. (16:42) Peter Elberg Funerals (Bm66) 1000m

Back Me

2 Press Down (Bet Now:$2.30) will jump on speed and give plenty of sight. He did that a few weeks back when resuming on the course proper here and for a few strides, he looked the winner, but he had no answers for the finale of Sghirripa. Better for the run under the belt, he has the right racing pattern to give himself every chance. Hard to beat.

Danger

10 Left Turn Clyde (Bet Now:$23.00) is a sneaky prospect. He was on speed throughout when resuming two weeks back at this track/distance and he gave a solid kick but couldn’t quite finish it off, tiring late when third to Foster Street. Good second up run when last in work, should land near the front and take running down, especially if the track is playing towards those up/in.

Long Shot

3 Grand Host (Bet Now:$18.00) is racing in consistent form for Matty Seyers. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1050m on the course proper here when back in the run nearer the inside but got the splits and drove through, looking the winner for a few strides, but was run down late by Sghirripa, who bolted up last Saturday to frank the form. That is good enough to win here.

Race 7. (17:20) Leconfield Wines (Bm74) 1400m

Back Me

3 Anjopin (Bet Now:$8.00) is flying for Team Jaensch and seems a straight bat option. He is looking to make it three wins on the bounce. The win two back came on the course proper before going here a week later where he rode the rail, where the bias was, and drove through with purpose to win and win well. No reason why he can’t it make it three on the bounce.

Danger

7 East Indiaman (Bet Now:$12.00) has a fab track/distance record and I think will take beating, especially if he finds the front. He ran in the Gawler Cup when thrown in the deep end but he gave a decent sight on speed and just felt the pinch late behind Chicago Storm. Back to where he races best, back in depth, should land on speed and prove hard to get past.

Long Shot

Fitter and up to 1400m, 9 Easy Beast (Bet Now:$51.00) can run an improved race at odds. He was four weeks between runs and back to 1200m from 1400m when racing at Bordertown last time when run off his legs early and was never a threat but kept on and was game in defeat behind Duke Of Anjou. Back up in trip, fitter, he’s an improver.

Race 8. (18:00) The Lane Vineyard (Bm68) 1250m

Back Me

4 Nasho (Bet Now:$8.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. He took a while to win the maiden but that win came on Gawler Cup Day where he got the suck run in behind the speed before angling clear and he gapped them late for an impressive win. He was a few weeks between runs there so with room for improvement, up to 1250m, off a win, hard to beat.

Danger

2 Lovely Lookin (Bet Now:$2.20) has to be given another chance. Andrew Gluyas trained filly that comes through the Thousand Guineas Prelude where she seemed to get into a decent spot on speed but she was a beaten on the turn and dropped out to run tailed off last behind impressive winner Coeur Volante. Dominant track/distance winner the start prior and off that, she’ll take beating.

Long Shot

9 Dodd (Bet Now:$8.00) is a definite chance IMO. He ran in a maiden here two weeks back when four wide no cover for the trip and despite the hard run, he kept finding the line and was quite good in defeat behind a nice type, Give Some Lip. If he gets a more economical run in transit, he has the engine under the hood to measure up.
