2022 Home Run Derby odds and best bets

Pete Alonso is the favorite at + 200 per DraftKings Sportsbook. He is looking to become the first to win three straight Home Run Derby titles.

2022 Home Run Derby is a single-elimination bracket-style format. Head-to-head winner advances to the next round.

The first-round matchups are: Batters have three minutes in the first and second rounds and two minutes for the final round. Batches automatically get 30 seconds of bonus time for hitting a home run of 440 feet or more. They get one 45-second timeout per round and a 60- second tiebreaker round in case of a tie.

The winner of the Home Run Derby gets $1 million. The total prize pool for the players is $2.5 million, which is more than Alonso's salary.

Juan Soto and Jose Ramirez are the first round opponents. Ramirez has not been the same since going for an MRI on his injured thumb last month. Sotto hit 31 home runs in the last round last year. He lost to Alonso in semifinals. Juan Sato will play Schwarber in Round 2.

Jose Ramirez has the highest launch angle of anybody in the field. He has a pop-up rate second to Acuna and doesn't have a line drive swing. Every player reached at least 19 HR last season. In 2019, five players failed to hit at at minimum 20 HR in first round.

Kyle Schwarber has the second-highest Barrel% in baseball this season behind Aaron Judge. He is the only hitter in the top 20 minimum 200 plate appearances in this field.

Ronald Acuna Jr. has the highest exit velocity on Derby HR over 111.5 mph. Alonso is second at 116.6 mph, while Schwarber is third at 109. 5 mph and Alonso's line is probably a little low at 110.
