Twice the Fun

Studying the Courses

The 2023 Farmers Insurance Open features a full field of golfers thanks to two courses being used in the event. You will see golf on the Torrey Pines North course and the Torrey Pines South course. At least they made the courses easy to differentiate.

Last week featured three courses, but two will suffice this time around. With no pro-am edition to worry about, things become a lot easier

Torrey Pines South will be the host course for the Open. The course is just under 7,800 yards in total, which may take some getting used to. Expect to see your fair share of par 4s on the host course. Torrey Pines’ South course will host three of the four rounds. This is the type of course Happy Gilmore would have loved playing at, as it favors the long ball.

The North course is a lot similar to what these golfers–and us as viewers–have been used to. Torrey Pines North plays similar to what we saw at the American Express. Expect to see birdie after birdie on this course.

The Favorites of the Farmers Insurance Open

2023 Farmers Insurance Open Preview

With the Masters being months away, the road runs through events like the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open. Now that we have a background on the courses in play let’s look at the Farmers Insurance Open odds. The oddsmakers have a clear favorite, but do you agree?

Out of the 156 golfers, Jon Rahm has the best golf odds to win the event at +450. Looking at his golf stats and resume, he is one of the best golfers in the world. The event may not have the talent it is used to seeing, but many of these golfers are looking to earn more respect. The 28-year-old from Spain looks to improve upon his current 4th place standing in the PGA Tour.

There is a clear favorite in Rahm, but after that, we have a tight bunch creeping behind him. Xander Schauffele and Tony Finau each enter with +1100 odds, while Justin Thomas is at +1400. Collin Morikawa and Will Zalatoris sit at +1800, and Sungjae Im has +2000 odds to win the Farmers Insurance Open.

Of the golfers listed above, Rahm is ranked in the top 5 when it comes to OWGR. Schauffele, Zalatoris, Morikawa and Thomas are in the top 10. On paper, these aresome of the intriguing golf matchups to watch.

Farmers Insurance Open Picks

Is it boring to pick the favorite to win the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open?

Perhaps, but that is where the money will be made. Come Saturday, Jon Rahm +450 will win the Farmers Insurance Open. Rahm may be the best and most obvious pick, but our Farmers Insurance Open predictions are not quite done.

Do not sleep on Sungjae Im with +2000 odds. Im finishing as the runner-up in the 2020 Masters Tournament was no fluke. A lot of momentum is going the way of the South Korean, and that should continue as January wraps up. We could be in for a major upset, and it could all be courtesy of Im.

Ladies and gentlemen, tee time is almost here. Bet big bucks on Rahm +450, but do not be shy to throw some money the way of Im +2000.
