2024 CFB Sugar Bowl odds: Texas vs. Washington picks, props and more

This game features two great quarterbacks in Michael Penix Jr. and Quinn Ewers. It’s Penix Jr., who was a top Heisman Trophy candidate, that we like to have a better game in the Sugar Bowl.

He finished 10th in the nation in quarterback rating and had 33 touchdowns against just nine interceptions. On the other hand, Ewers threw for just 21 touchdowns and hasn’t shown the same level of explosiveness.

The Huskies have the nation’s best passing attack as they led the country in passing yards per game. However, Texas had a much more balanced attack.

It will be tougher for Texas to keep up that balanced attack without Jonathon Brooks, a very solid running back. He got hurt in a game earlier this season against TCU and marks a big loss for the Longhorns’ rushing attack. While he hasn’t played for a few weeks now, the team is still feeling his loss.

Texas lost to an Oklahoma team that while good, isn’t on the same level as the top teams in the country. Washington has not lost so far this season and deserves respect, even if they’re not in the toughest conference. Take the Huskies and the points.

2024 Sugar Bowl pick: Washington +4 points (-115 or better)

CFB Sugar Bowl game props: Texas vs. Washington prop bets

Sugar Bowl props: Washington to win by 7-12 (+700 or better)

If you’re looking for a prop bet that offers a large payout, this wager on Washington to win by 7-12 could be a good idea. It pays out 8-1 on your money and covers several key numbers. While it’s a long shot, the large return makes this not a bad wager for a sprinkle for Sugar Bowl prop bets.

Sugar Bowl prop bets: Tie/Washington for Halftime/Fulltime result  (+2200 or better)

If the prop bet above did not satisfy you then you can look at this option, which can be found under Halftime/Fulltime at several sportsbooks including DraftKings. Look for the game to be tied at halftime before Washington pulls away in the second half. You’ll get paid over 20-to-1 for your money.

2024 Sugar Bowl same-game parlay: Texas vs. Washington SGP picks (+286 or better)

While Washington is a 4-point underdogs the combination of the best passing attack in the country and the undefeated record means that there are reasons to believe that they could pull of a win and score a ton while doing it.

Michael Penix Jr. is an electric talent at quarterback. In a late game situation, it’s easier to trust Penix Jr. than it is to trust Ewers to make a big play.

The other thing that you need to happen is for this game to go over 63.5 total points. Both of these teams’ offenses finished in the top 16 in the country in points per game and top 15 for yards. They are both offensively driven and should be executing at a high level with so much on the line.
