2024 Super Bowl Injury Report: Latest Injuries, Odds for Chiefs vs. 49ers

We're looking at the 2024 Super Bowl injury report and tracking the latest injury updates and related NFL odds from our best Super Bowl betting sites ahead of Chiefs vs. 49ers.

One of the most important part of making your Super Bowl predictions is knowing who will take the field for the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers in their Super Bowl 2024 matchup, which kicks off Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The 49ers (-2) are the betting favorites over the Chiefs by our Super Bowl odds, and they appear to be the healthier team according to the latest Super Bowl injury report, which was released Wednesday night after these teams' first practices in the week before the Super Bowl.

We're still awaiting official injury designations on key players like George Kittle, Joe Thuney, and Jerick McKinnon, which won't come until later in the week. That doesn't mean you have to wait to make your NFL picks for the Big Game.

To help with our Chiefs vs. 49ers prediction, we're looking at the most recent Super Bowl injury report and how the latest injury updates affect the Super Bowl player props market and other related betting odds from our best NFL betting sites.

Chiefs injury updates, odds for Super Bowl 58

G Joe Thuney (Pectoral - DNP)

The biggest injury news to come out Wednesday was that Chiefs guard Joe Thuney, who hasn't played since the NFL Divisional Round, didn't practice and seems unlikely to suit up in Super Bowl 58.

Kansas City coach Andy Reid said he would "probably bet toward (backup guard Nick) Allegretti playing" in place of Thuney, which doesn't come as a surprise after the All-Pro guard missed the AFC Championship with that pectoral injury he suffered against the Buffalo Bills on Jan. 21.

Thuney is arguably the best pass-blocking guard in the NFL, but Patrick Mahomes and Co. navigated his absence in the AFC title game, albeit in a 17-point effort.

RB Jerick McKinnon (Groin - Limited)

McKinnon hasn't played since Dec. 17 after suffering a groin injury that landed him on injured reserve, and Reid said during his press conference Tuesday that McKinnon had a "slim" chance to play on Sunday.

The veteran back did return to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday, but it seems like the 31-year-old backup is a long shot to play in his second Super Bowl.

RB Isiah Pacheco (Toe / Ankle - Full)

Pacheco carried an injury designation into the AFC Championship, but he still logged a season-high 24 carries for the second time this postseason and extended his scoring streak to seven games ahead of Super Bowl 58.

He only rushed for 68 yards in that win two weeks ago, his fewest since Week 15, but his full participation in practice suggests he'll be good to go against the 49ers.

We discuss Pacheco's outlook on Sunday in further detail in our Super Bowl rushing props and Super Bowl game leader predictions.

DT Chris Jones (Quad - Full)

Jones' injury has been a potential point of concern for Chiefs fans after the star defensive tackle was listed as a limited participant in practice last week.

He was a full participant on Wednesday, and he shrugged off any concerns about his quad injury earlier this week. Assuming he plays Sunday, he'll have a chance for a big day against an exploitable 49ers offensive line.

The Kansas City defensive star is among the featured players in our Super Bowl sacks odds.

WR Skyy Moore (Knee - Full)

It's been nearly two months since we last saw Moore on the field, but the Chiefs activated the second-year wideout off injured reserve on Wednesday ahead of his full participation in practice.

His teammate, Kadarius Toney, wasn't listed on the injury report after sitting out the same stretch, while Rashee Rice was also a full participant in Wednesday's practice. It looks like all three receivers should be good to go on Sunday.

Even though Moore is expected to play, none of our best sports betting sites have receiving totals listed for Moore. He does have an intriguing price in the Super Bowl longest plays odds, where he's dealing at +2200 via DraftKings to finish with the longest reception of the game.

49ers injury updates, odds for Super Bowl 58

TE George Kittle (Toe - Limited)

Easily the biggest name on the 49ers' injury report is Kittle, who didn't practice at all last week with a toe injury that coach Kyle Shanahan has been coy about since.

Kittle didn't seem too concerned about it when asked about the injury ahead of Super Bowl 58, and it appears the 49ers are expecting him and teammate Deebo Samuel - who was left off Wednesday's report after playing through a shoulder injury in the NFC Championship - to be available on Sunday.

Even if he is healthy, Kittle faces a tough matchup against the Chiefs defense, as we discussed further in our Super Bowl receiving props.

DT Arik Armstead (Knee / Foot - Limited)

Armstead hasn't played for the 49ers since Week 14, but it's looking more likely each day that he'll make his return in the Super Bowl.

The former first-round pick in 2017 was one of four San Francisco players who were limited in Wednesday's practice, and all signs point to Armstead playing in his second Super Bowl on Sunday. He finished with three tackles and a QB hit in 57 snaps when these teams met in Super Bowl LIV in 2020.

CB Ambry Thomas (Ankle - Limited)

Thomas has struggled to stay down the stretch of this season, as he already had surgery for a broken hand in early January before leaving the NFC Championship with an ankle injury.

While he was limited in Wednesday's practice, Thomas has been day-to-day for two weeks now and seems likely to start in the slot for the 49ers. If he does miss this game, that could put additional strain on a San Francisco pass defense that has struggled in recent weeks.
