5 Things Learned From College Football Week 10

College football week 10 is in the books. After every week fans can take away things from what happened on the field. Here are 5 things learned from college football week 10.

Although things looked dicey at the start of the season, Alabama has proven that they will win the SEC West. They won their week 10 matchup against LSU 42-28. That leaves their lone loss of the season being an out-of-conference defeat to Texas.

While mathematically they haven’t locked things up, they play Kentucky, Chattanooga and Auburn down the stretch. They will be favored in all games. On top of that, Ole Miss, who is in second place in the SEC West, will have to beat Georgia and hope for an Alabama collapse as the Crimson Tide already defeated the Rebels this season. Alabama has their sites on an SEC Championship and maybe more.

Oklahoma is leaving the Big 12 to join the SEC. Because of that, they are having trouble scheduling a game every season with their in-state rivals. It doesn’t seem like either school is willing to budge on the scheduling, so another rivalry game could be lost. This season was the last scheduled Bedlam game.

While Oklahoma State was the underdogs, they were able to pull off the win at home. Ollie Gordon helped the Cowboys by rushing 33 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns. The win gives the Cowboys the rivalry win, keeps them alive in the Big 12 Championship race and kills any hope of Oklahoma going to the College Football Playoff.

There were a lot of doubts around USC’s defense heading into the season. Things are worse than originally thought though, as the Trojans have now lost three games and allow 32.6 points per game. Things went terribly against Washington in week 10, as they allowed 52 points in their loss.

USC has an offense that is ready to compete, but even with key transfer portal additions, the defense isn’t up to par. Their likely be plenty of staff changes this offseason on that side of the ball, but this year was the one where they really needed the defense to step up to help out the high-powered offense. Now that they have three losses, things could go from bad to worse for the Trojans.

There was plenty of talk and criticism of Clemson after the Tigers lost four games before the start of November. Their team showed this week that they still have plenty of talent to win big games. The Tigers defeated a ranked Notre Dame team 31-28.

Clemson has been one of the premier programs in the sport over the last decade or so. A bad year happens, but it seemed like Clemson has been slowly regressing for a few seasons. They will likely need changes this offseason to help them get back near the top of the sport, but for now, the win has to feel great.

Georgia has won every game this season, but things haven’t always looked pretty. They had a big ranked game against Missouri this week, and the Bulldogs showed that they were up to the task. They defeated Missouri 30-21 without Brock Bowers in the lineup.

The Bulldogs still have tough matchups down the stretch and aren’t a lock to make the College Football Playoff. It was still impressive for Georgia to get a good win and to play as well as they did. This team can win another championship if they play up to their potential, which would give them three in a row.
