Barber Road, ridden by Victor native Reylu Gutierrez, finished 6th in Saturday's Kentucky Derby. Rich Strike, a horse with longer odds, upset the field to win the race.
Reylu Gutierrez, 26, is a local jockey who competes in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. He is riding Barber Road. His father is the trainer at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack and his uncle was a long time jockered. Gutierrez is grateful for the training he got at the Finger Lake track. He will come back to the Farmington and Rochester area for a few days after the Derby to hang out with family and friends. The family members will be in Kentucky cheering him on.
