2022 Belmont Stakes winner: Mo Donegal wins as a 5/2 favorite with a huge burst on the stretch to pull away

Mo Donegal won the 154th Belmont Stakes in an official time of 2:28.28, while Nest finished in second place. Trainer Todd Pletcher won three times at Belmonstakes before with Rags to Riches in 2007, Palace Malice in 2013 and Tapwrit in 2017. Owner Mike Repole won his Derby for the first time in 40 years. He came second in 2011 with Stay Thirsty. Irad Ortiz won Belmont Stake in 2016 with Creator. His brother Jose won Preakness Staking this year. This is the third time that three horses have won Triple Crown in four consecutive years, and first in the modern history.

Mo Donegal, Nest, Skippylongstockin, We the People, Creative Minister, Rich Strike, Barber Road and Golden Glider are competing in the Belmont Stakes. The parade to the gate is underway.
