Baltimore Orioles -850 (Last week: -280)

The oddsmakers’ disrespect of the Baltimore Orioles was real to begin the regular season, but the O’s have forced that to change with the results they’ve continued to display. With five straight victories and seven over their last ten games, the Orioles have solidified their standing at the top of the AL East. As the regular season continues to wind down, the Orioles have seen their AL East odds bet down considerably over the last week from -280 to -850.

Tampa Bay Rays +500 (Last week: +185)

With one of the strongest starts to a regular season in recent memory, the Tampa Bay Rays were at one time a significant favorite to win the AL East. After a glorious start to the year, the Rays have been inconsistent in the second half, but injuries have certainly played a role. Tampa refuses to quit, though, and they’re playing about as well as anyone in the American League over the last three weeks. The Rays have won seven of their last ten games, yet the Orioles have remained just as hot, leading to the Rays falling to 3.5 games behind first place. Even with the Rays playing good baseball, they’ve seen their odds drop from +185 to +500 over the last week.

Toronto Blue Jays +37000 (Last week: +39000)

The Toronto Blue Jays have high-end talent but have struggled with consistency. Toronto has capitalized on their easy schedule to close August and kick off September, winning six of their last ten games and leapfrogging the Texas Rangers for the top spot in the AL wild-card race. Still, the Blue Jays are dealing with some critical injuries, and a looming series against Texas has the potential to determine their playoff fate. The Blue Jays’ odds of winning the AL East have risen from +39000 to +37000 over the last week.

Boston Red Sox +50000 (Last week: +50000)

After a mediocre first three months of the regular season, the Boston Red Sox caught fire in July and were considered back in the playoff race. The Red Sox made a push in August but closed out the month and started September in a slump. The Red Sox have lost seven of their last ten games and sit 16.5 games back in the AL East and five in the wild-card race. The Red Sox maintained their +50000 odds to win the AL East.

New York Yankees +50000 (Last week: +50000)

The New York Yankees had many problems to start the year. Aaron Judge’s injury really derailed their offense, and even with him back in the fold, this group hasn’t been able to find their footing. The Yankees are hot right now, but it looks to be too little too late. The Bronx Bombers have won five in a row and eight of their last ten. How will they disrupt the AL playoff picture down the stretch? Still, the Yankees have maintained +50000 odds to win the AL East.
