Arizona Diamondbacks: A bettor could win over $100K on World Series title

As sports fans (and bettors), it’s an annual tradition to look through futures odds and dream about potential long shots that may hit. If everything breaks right, could Team X make the World Series? What about win it?

Some of those bets are bigger than others, and for one bettor, there is a massive payday waiting if the Arizona Diamondbacks can beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS and win the World Series.

Back in April, one bettor at DraftKings Sportsbook placed a $1,000 wager on the Diamondbacks to win the World Series at 130-1 odds. The bet would win $130,000.

Arizona was an underdog against both the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers, but managed to win both series, including a remarkable three-game sweep against the Dodgers. Arizona enters the NLCS as a +145 underdog against the Phillies (-175) at DraftKings.

The Diamondbacks had 180-1 odds to win the World Series at DraftKings at the start of the season, which were the eighth-worst odds of any MLB team. Their odds are now +475 to win it all, still the lowest among the four teams remaining in the MLB playoffs.

Game 1 of the NLCS series is on Monday, Oct. 16 at 8:07 p.m. ET on TBS.

If Arizona goes on to win the World Series, the Diamondbacks would have the longest odds of any champion since at least 1985, which is as far back as Sports Odds History‘s database goes.
