The Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds meet Sunday in MLB action from Great American Ball Park. This will be the finale in a three-game weekend series. The White Sox eked out a win in the opener, then on Saturday Cincinnati evened things up with a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Chicago White Sox

The White Sox fought back from a 3-0 deficit in the Friday game, eventually powering out a 5-4 win. In the Saturday game two, the Sox blew a 3-1 lead and ultimately fell 5-3. Starting pitcher Mike Clevinger posted 6.0 innings, four earned, six hits, one walk and seven strikeouts.

For the starter job Sunday, it’ll be Chicago’s Michael Kopech. This  year in his six starts Kopech is 0-3 with a 5.97 ERA and 34 Ks in 31.2 innings. Kopech is 10-16 with a 3.95 ERA in 79 career games (39 starts).

Cincinnati Reds

Over on the Reds’ side, they out-hit the Sox 8-7 in the Friday opener but couldn’t score after the fifth inning. On Saturday Cincinnati posted three runs in the fifth along the way to the victory. Starter Nick Lodolo put up 3.2 innings with three earned on six hits and a walk.

It’ll be Graham Ashcraft in the starting role for the Reds on Sunday. Ashcraft is 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA in six starts this year. he’s got 27 Ks in 36.0 innings. In his career, Ashcraft is 7-6 with a 4.15 ERA in 25 starts.

The Sox are 14-4 in their last 18 interleague road games and 7-19 in their last 26 in game three of a series. The over is 7-3 in Chicago’s last 10 interleague games.

Meanwhile, the Reds are 19-39 in their last 58 overall and 21-43 in their last 64 versus a right-handed starter. Cincinnati is 1-4 in their last five in game three of a series.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll try the Reds here. Ashcraft is doing pretty well lately, even if he’s not picking up wins. Over his last three games, Ashcraft has five earned in 17.0 combined innings on 12 hits and eight walks. Kopech had a couple of rough starts going last month, but he’s coming off a good one (6.0 innings; one earned) versus the Twins. On Saturday Cincinnati got a couple of big offensive performances from TJ Friedl and Jonathan India but they were pretty uneven with the bats otherwise. So long as the Reds plate a couple runs early in the finale I think they’ll be fine, though.
