Detroit Tigers vs Atlanta Braves Prediction 6-12-23 MLB Picks

The Atlanta Braves and the Detroit Tigers meet Monday in MLB action from Comerica Park. Atlanta is fresh off a series versus the Nationals. After a pair of wins in the first two, on Sunday the Braves lost by four. As for Detroit, they played Arizona over the weekend and lost the first pair. In the finale the Tigers fell again. Atlanta Braves 

In their weekend series, the Braves beat the Nationals 3-2 Friday and 6-4 in game two. In the Sunday finale Atlanta gave up five in the sixth inning and lost 6-2. Starting pitcher Bryce Elder lasted 5.1 innings with five earned on eight hits and a walk. 

For the starter Monday, Atlanta will send out Charlie Morton. This year in his 12 starts Morton is 5-6 with a 3.89 ERA and 77 Ks in 69.1 innings. Morton is 121-107 with a 4.03 career ERA in 335 games (334 starts). 

Detroit Tigers 

Over on the Detroit side, they lost 11-6 to the Diamondbacks in the opener and 5-0 in the Saturday game On Sunday the Tigers had 11 team hits but couldn’t do much outside of the fourth inning in a 7-5 loss. Joey Wentz did most of the pitching on 4.1 innings, two earned, one hit and two walks. 

Mason Englert will start for the Tigers Monday. Englert is 1-2 with a 5.00 ERA in 21 games (zero starts) this year.

I’ll probably stay with the Braves. The line's too thick to mess with, though. Morton is going to need a good start and some help from the bats, though. In his last three outings combined Morton is 0-2 with nine earned in 17.0 total innings. He’s coming off 4.2 frames with four earned versus the Mets. On Sunday Atlanta had a rough sixth inning and couldn’t score after the first. They’ll need a bounce-back effort here but I think the Braves are up for it.
