Of course, Novak Djokovic comes in as the favourite for this one at 11/8 with bet365. The 36-year-old has had a remarkable 2023 winning the French Open, US Open, and the Australian Open. He narrowly missed out on the calendar slam losing to Carloz Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final.

Djokovic has won the joint-most ATP Tour Finals in history, alongside Roger Federer on six titles. A title win here will see him with the most in the tournament's history.

Djokovic definitely has the easier group than Carlos Alcaraz and will be confident of progressing through to the knockout stages.

Carlos Alcaraz: 9/2

Alcaraz is next in the betting at 9/2. The Spaniard has been a bit quiet as of late and hasn’t won a title since Wimbledon with his most recent performance against Roman Safiullin being very concerning.

Of course, write off Alcaraz at your own peril, but with his recent performances, he doesn’t look great.

He is a big game player so it wouldn’t surprise me if he did turn up and put on a real show, but it’s a big ask with how much tennis he has played recently.

One of the standout players for me in 2023 has been Jannik Sinner. The youngster has been phenomenal recently and recently won the Vienna Open just a few weeks ago. Sinner retired from his last tournament due to scheduling issues and presumably wanted to be fully rested for this event.

I think the Italian is pretty good value for money here with how he’s playing recently, but at the end of the day he has a 0-3 record against Novak Djokovic, and he will most likely have to beat him at some point.

Daniil Medvedev: 6/1

Daniil Medvedev is next in the betting, just slightly behind Sinner, and he won this event in 2020. Hard court is Medvedev’s home so it’s no surprise to see him thrive in this tournament and if anyone is to take out Djokovic, my money is on this guy.

Meddy has proved in the past that he loves the big occasion: remember the US Open final against Djokovic? No problem.

Only two of his 20 titles have been on clay/grass court so it’s clear to see how much he favours the hard surface. Expect him to go far here.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is fresh off the back-to-back-to-back semi-finals in tournaments. Whilst you could focus on the positives that he is consistently going deep into tournaments, I’m more concerned that he can’t seem to win these big games.

2023 has been a quiet year for the Greek and although he has won this tournament before, it’s tough to see a world in which he consistently beats the top players here.

Andrey Rublev: 20/1

Andrey Rublev has been another player that I’ve been very impressed with this year.

The Russian has two titles in 2023 which is not his career best by any means but he’s playing some really solid tennis. He has leveled his career-high ranking this year and is now up to 5th in the world.

It must be said though, Rublev does not have a good reputation for beating the big guys. He very recently came ever so close to beating Djokovic but failed to do so and is now 1-5 against the Serb. He is 2-4 against Sinner and 2-6 against Medvedev.

It’s a big ask for him to beat all of these players in one tournament.

I’m surprised to see Alexander Zverev so low down on the list. He’s been incredibly active this year, winning two trophies and maintaining his top 10 rank consistently despite a huge injury to deal with.

Zverev always has it in his locker to beat some of the big dogs and we’ve seen that with his three wins against Alcaraz and four against Djokovic.

Hard court has always been a great surface for Zverev and he looks a massive price to win the tour finals here, he’s already won the tour finals twice and don’t be surprised to see him do so again.

Holger Rune: 22/1

Holger Rune has had a difficult end of 2023. As harsh as it sounds I don’t see a chance for the Dane here. He’s had some memorable nights against the best players in the world but he is bang out of form and still adjusting to a new coach.

Rune to me will always be more of a clay court player and that’s where his sole title has come this year. I wouldn’t be backing him to beat any of these players on the hard court and the odds are massively stacked against him.
