Best MLB Parlay Picks for Friday, April 14

Friday brings another jam packed, 15-game MLB slate to sweat, with no shortage of value to be found in the MLB odds.

We’ve examined the board and found our three favorite picks for the evening, combining all three into an MLB parlay that offers some pretty favorable odds.

This three-legged parlay pays out +388 if it hits. The wager begins out west in Oakland, as the Mets look to prolong the A’s miserable start to the 2023 season.

Pick #1: Mets Moneyline vs A’s

This is a major mismatch no matter how you look at it. New York enters play as a top-5 World Series odds contender, while the A’s boast the longest price to win the title.

The Mets are off to an underwhelming 7-6 start, but that’s still head and shoulders above the A’s 3-10 record. Oakland has the worst run differential in all of baseball at -50, and have allowed a league-high 101 runs. Don’t expect enemy bats to slow down their assault on Friday with James Kaprielian on the mound.

The 29-year-old has been smacked around in back-to-back outings, surrendering 14 hits and 12 runs total in just 9.2 innings. New York’s offense is off to a sluggish start, but they just took two of three from the Padres, one of the NL’s top squads.

The Mets will counter with Kodai Senga, who’s off to a fantastic start to his MLB career. The Japanese star is 2-0 in two starts, allowing only two runs and six hits over 11 innings. He should have no problem with an A’s lineup averaging less than four runs per outing.

Pick #2: Rays vs Blue Jays Over 9 Runs

Baseball’s hottest team now gets to take its undefeated record into the Rogers Center, one of the league’s most hitter friendly parks. Tampa Bay is off to a record tying 13-0 start, scoring 101 runs. They’ve crossed the plate at least seven times in eight of their past nine games, and should be able to continue the early season struggles of Toronto’s Jose Berrios.

Berrios has yielded at least six runs in both of his starts, dropping a pair of 9-5 decisions. He’s allowed a 51.6% hard hit rate so far, stranding just 24% of the runners he’s put on base.

The Jays offense meanwhile, is just two games removed from belting five home runs, and entered play on Thursday having scored 25 runs in their previous three games.

Pick #3: Phillies Moneyline vs Reds

Last but not least, let’s target the Phillies on the road in Cincinnati. The Reds project to be one of the five worst teams in MLB, and so far they’re right on track with a 5-7 record. Cincy’s bats have a brutal track record against Phillies starter Taijuan Walker, posting just nine hits in 46 at-bats, and a dismal .261 slugging percentage.

Reds starter Connor Overton meanwhile, has been smacked around in his two starts. He’s coughed up nine runs in only 8 innings of work, struggling badly with his control. He’s got a 2.25 WHIP, while opponents are slugging .686 off him.

Philadelphia teed off on Overton earlier this week, and given the firepower in their lineup a repeat performance is likely. The Phillies tagged Overton for six hits and four runs, including a homer, chasing him from the contest after only 4 innings.
