Milwaukee vs Philadelphia Probable Pitchers

The Phillies current form has shortened their World Series odds to +1800, the third shortest price among NL teams. They’ll give the ball to Aaron Nola on Tuesday, who’s looking to bounce back from his second shaky start in his last three outings.

Nola coughed up eight hits, five runs and three homers last time out to the Marlins. He’s now surrendered six dingers in his last 18 innings, and 10 runs over that stretch. All three of those outings were on the road, and it’s important to note he’s pitched much better at home than as a visitor.

Nola’s ERA in Philly is 1.59 runs better than his mark on the road. He’s got plenty of experience against the Milwaukee regulars in the MLB starting lineups, and has done a decent job of slowing them down. Current Brewer hitters are batting .250 against Nola over 92 at-bats, with only seven extra-base hits.

No player has had more success versus the righty than Christian Yelich (10-for-33, HR, 5 RBI), who enters play with home runs in back-to-back contests.

Teheran vs Nola Stats

Milwaukee will counter with veteran Julio Teheran. The 32-year-old was signed by the Brewers late in May thanks to multiple injuries in their starting rotation, but if he’s not careful he’ll be out of work again soon.

Teheran has been shelled in back-to-back outings by the Cubs and Mets. Chicago tagged him for nine hits and six runs two weeks ago, while the Mets did a number on him the week prior. New York shelled him for seven hits and seven runs over 5-plus innings, taking him deep four times.

Teheran has plenty of history against these Philly hitters, and it has not gone well for him. Current Philadelphia batters are slugging .672 against Teheran over 125 at-bats, with a ridiculous 1.096 OPS.

Brewers vs Phillies Predictions

Bryce Harper has been a major thorn in Teheran’s side dating back to their days as members of the Nationals and Braves. Harper has nine home runs and 21 RBI against the right-hander in 47 at-bats, with a .404 average and 1.043 slugging percentage.

The former NL MVP odds champ snapped a 39-game home run drought over the weekend, and has six multi-hit efforts in 10 starts this month. Philadelphia has scored the third most runs of any team in baseball since the All-Star break, boasting a slash line of .269/.352/.462.

Kyle Schwarber has gone deep in three straight games, and don’t be surprised if balls are flying out of the yard when Teheran is on the mound. The Phillies have scored 12 runs in their last 14 innings against Teheran, smacking six home runs over three games.

Milwaukee meanwhile, gave Teheran eight runs of support in his last appearance, and will be looking to build off their strong recent play versus the Reds. The Brewers took five of six games from Cincy over back-to-back series, outscoring them 21-14.

The team is 6-1 in its last seven overall, with William Contreras, Yelich and Willy Adams all slugging north of .635 during that stretch.
