Pick #1: Brock Bowers Over 55.5 Receiving Yards

A player you want to have your eye on in the Alabama vs Georgia props is UGA star tight end Brock Bowers. He’s expected to play Saturday after being rested in last weekend’s game against Georgia Tech. The star tight end has missed two games this season following tightrope surgery to fix a high ankle sprain.

Bowers plays the tight end position, but he’s typically the top target for UGA quarterback Carson Beck when healthy. He’s averaged 87 receiving yards this season and caught seven passes for 152 yards in his last big outing (2022 National Championship vs TCU).

We expect Beck to target Bowers often on Saturday, as Alabama has struggled to defend elite tight ends. Facing Texas, the Crimson Tide surrendered 114 receiving yards to Longhorns tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders. Later in the year against Kentucky, they allowed 71 combined yards to Wildcats tight ends Josh Kattus and Brenden Bates.

DraftKings is offering Bowers’ receiving yards for the 2023 SEC Championship at 55.5 yards, which we think is great value in the Bama vs Georgia props. Bowers’ health is obviously a concern, but most sportsbooks will void the bet if he doesn’t play, so there’s solid upside at the current number.

  • Pick: Brock Bowers OVER 55.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

Pick #2: Jalen Milroe Over 38.5 Rushing Yards

Another player we’re concentrating on in the Georgia vs Alabama player props is Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe. The sophomore is a very mobile dual-threat quarterback who has averaged 40 rushing yards per game this season.

We expect Alabama to have plenty of designed run plays for Milroe on Saturday, especially with news that Tide leading running back Jase McClellan won’t be available to play due to an injury. Alabama has been running the ball on 63% of their plays this season, which is top-15 in FBS.

Georgia’s defense isn’t as elite as previous seasons, although their secondary is stronger than their rushing attack. Milroe will have time in the pocket to make plays, with UGA surprisingly ranking outside the top-50 in pass-rush efficiency, per PFF.

Georgia has allowed over 30 rushing yards to the opposing team’s QB in half their games this season, and Milroe might be the most dynamic QB they face. FanDuel is offering Milroe’s rushing yards at 38.5, and we like the “over”.

  • Pick: Jalen Milroe OVER 38.5 Rushing Yards (-114)

Georgia vs Alabama Touchdown Scorer Props

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has the best odds to get into the endzone at -135, which is a 57.4% implied probability. UGA’s Brock Bowers, however, has the best odds to be the first TD scorer at +650 (13.3% implied chance).

Five of the top six players with the best odds to score a touchdown are from Georgia, which coincides with the betting line for this game listing UGA as 5.5-point favorites.

Pick #3: Brock Bowers Anytime TD

As mentioned above, we’re bullish on Georgia tight end Brock Bowers playing a big role in Saturday’s SEC Championship. You can get him as an anytime touchdown scorer at -130 odds at DraftKings, which is a 57% implied probability. This number should be higher.

Bowers has found the endzone in all but one of his past six games and has performed great historically against the Crimson Tide. In both prior games against Alabama in his career (freshman year), Bowers scored a touchdown each time.

Bowers has been upgraded to probable for Saturday’s game, while talented wide receiver Ladd McConkey (ankle) is still listed as questionable. McConkey will likely need to fight through stuff if he plays, so Bowers will become even more of a focus for UGA’s offense.

  • Pick: Brock Bowers Anytime TD (-130)

Pick #4: Isaiah Bond Anytime TD

Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Bond was the hero in the Crimson Tide’s miracle win over the Auburn Bowl, hauling in the late hail mary pass from Milroe. We think there’s a strong chance Bond finds paydirt once again in the SEC Championship, and the odds are decent value.

Bond has been Milroe’s favorite receiver this season, getting targeted on 24% of Milroe’s throws. Bond has caught 39 passes for 542 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 5.4 targets per game. We expect him to get around that same amount, possibly even more with UGA’s secondary likely keying in on Jermaine Burton.

We mentioned earlier in this article that Alabama has been more of a running team this season, but they will need some big plays to keep pace with Carson Beck and the dynamic UGA passing game. We like the value on Bond coming through with another big touchdown.
