Bet on passage for big time sports gambling
Two of this fall's seven California ballot propositions are about gaming. They are Prop. 26 and Prop 27. Both aim to legalize sports betting. It's unclear what would happen if both passed. It’s hard to see how they could co-exist. There's a strong likelihood they will be in legal battles. If one passes, it will probably be longer than the other. The 1978 battle between the Proposition 13 and Proposition 10 was a precedent. In that case, the 13 passed and it stood as untouchable law ever since. 85% of the tax revenue from the gambling initiatives would be earmarked for housing and to help solve homelessness.
