The Detroit Lions entered the 2023 season with high expectations and so far have shown their talent despite a disappointing loss at home in Week 2. With a 1-1 record, they now take on the 2-0 Atlanta Falcons – against on their home turf in Ford Field.

The Lions are still favored against the Falcons despite Atlanta’s undefeated status. Here are the best-valued odds you can get from around the industry:

The Lions were favored to win last Sunday in their game against the Seattle Seahawks. But a devastating overtime rout slowed Detroit’s roll. The Seahawks still seem to have their number – and are a better team than their Week 1 loss projected.

Now, the Lions are favored again for another home game – this time against the strong 2-0 Atlanta Falcons. But, yet again, we do think the Lions have what it takes to win this game. Plus, they have the hunger to ensure they don’t go down two games at home at the start of the season.

After Sunday’s loss, Detroit’s odds advantage over Atlanta went down from 5.5 to a 3-point spread. But they’ve held onto oddsmakers’ estimation they can win the matchup.

Their game against Seattle went down to the wire after Detroit came back from a 10-point deficit to force overtime. The final score was 37-31, with a Seattle touchdown in OT.

But the matchup against Atlanta should be in their favor if they can stick it out. Let’s look at why the Lions might be able to best this Falcons team.

The Falcons are 2-0 and looking dominant, but remember – it’s only Week 3. They beat the Panthers 24-10 and the Packers 25-24. Like the Lions, the Falcons came back from a double-digit deficit in Week 2 and managed a one-point win against the Packers.

Their rushing has been the star of the highlight reel. Rookie RB Bijan Robinson claimed 124 yards just in the game against Green Bay, showing he was a stellar pick in the draft.

He’s not the only one. Tyler Allgeier has 123 yards so far this season, and QB Desmond Ridder rushed for 39 and a TD in Week 2.

Thankfully for the Lions, their run defense is one of the best in the league.

We’ve been pretty clear here. The Lions can win this game. But the Falcons aren’t a team to just gloss over. They have a formidable lineup and great talent on the field. We think both teams will keep the game close.

It’s tough for an NFL bettor in Michigan to bet on Falcons ATS, but that might be the best way to make your money without totally betting on a Lions’ loss.
