Bet the favorite in every 2022 Cup race, how would you fare?

The simplest of betting strategies would have resulted in a tidy profit this NASCAR season. If you bet $100 on the favorite in every Cup race so far, you'd be up $455. Only three drivers have delivered as the favourite this season – Larson, Chase Elliott and Martin Truex.

There is no evidence to back up NASCAR betting strategy. Only four of the 31 races have been won by a driver not from either the Hendrick, Gibbs or Penske teams. The most important takeaway from this analysis is that Cup races play out close to form.

Betting the favorite in every Cup race would be paying off well. Betting Larson every time out would also be better. Elliott has underperformed on road courses.
