Betting tips for Derby County vs West Ham: FA Cup preview and odds

Derby County and West Ham United complete an entertaining FA Cup fourth round when they face off at Pride Park on Monday (kick-off, 7.45pm).

West Ham have only won two of their previous nine games, including a victory over Brentford in the third round. A 2-0 win over Everton last weekend gave them some breathing space in the battle to beat the drop but their priority will still be league survival.

Derby are unbeaten in their last 14 games in all competitions, including wins in their last six matches, so will be hoping to cause an upset.

Derby set for giant-killing

While it was an entertaining weekend of FA Cup action, there was no major upset – so it falls to Derby County to provide a sting in the tale.

All the elements will be present at Pride Park, with Derby flying high in fourth in League One on a run of six consecutive wins.

The Rams have not lost since way back in October when Liverpool needed penalties to knock them out of the Carabao Cup.

West Ham’s focus will be on maintaining their Premier League status and David Moyes could rotate his squad and aid Derby’s chance of progressing to the fifth round.

Cup thriller on the cards

Derby have been free scoring under Paul Warne of late, finding the net 19 times in their past eight games in all competitions, and there have been over 2.5 goals in each of their previous five fixtures.

West Ham’s matches have been markedly less entertaining but their win over Everton last time out should give them some confidence.

Moyes is expected to make changes to his starting XI but the Hammers should have more than enough to play their part and get on the scoresheet.

Tip: Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score @ 6/5 with Betfred

Mendez-Laing the matchwinner

Derby are a team full of players who have Championship and Premier League experience, with the likes of Conor Hourihane, Curtis Davies and David McGoldrick are likely to start this evening.

However, it is former Cardiff City forward Nathaniel Mendez-Laing who is the man in form in front of goal at the moment.

The 30-year-old has scored twice and provided two assists in his last four games in all competitions and will be hopeful of finding the net once again against West Ham.

With a full Pride Park behind Derby and all the ingredients for an upset present, we have backed Mendez-Laing to score at any time.
