Betting tips for West Ham vs Everton: Premier League preview and odds

Two of the Premier League’s most out-of-form teams go head-to-head in a proverbial six-pointer on Saturday, as West Ham United and Everton look for a victory that can help them escape from what would be a calamitous relegation for either club (kick-off, 3pm).

The London Stadium has not been a happy ground for Hammers supporters of late, and there’s considerable discontent against David Moyes after a run of six league defeats and a draw in seven.

Times are no better for Everton, whose fans made it clear during the home defeat by Southampton last weekend that they want the board to leave and aren’t happy with Frank Lampard as manager.

No case for the defences

The stakes could not be higher for two sides whose position in the bottom three reflects significant underachievement this season. In their past seven league matches, Everton have taken two points and West Ham just one – and reports suggest that a defeat could cost either manager their job.

Our first tip for this match is for both teams to score, which has been the outcome in all of Everton’s past five matches in all competitions, with 12 of the 17 goals in those games going to the opposition.

West Ham have been equally leaky in their previous five matches, the exception being a 1-0 FA Cup win against Brentford. Outside of that, they have shipped eight goals in the other four matches.

Neither side have been banging in the goals but odds of 5/6 on both teams to score look generous given their inability to keep teams out.

Benrahma can fill his boots

Said Benrahma has been one of West Ham’s most potent forwards this season. His three Premier League goals make him the club’s joint top-scorer in the division and he has had the highest number of shots on target of any West Ham player with 12 at an average of 2.06 per league match.

Everton’s sloppy defensive record suggests that opportunity could come knocking for the Hammers at the London Stadium this weekend.

The Toffees have now gone eight matches without a clean sheet in all competitions and we expect Benrahma to take advantage of that if given the chance on Saturday.

Cards included in price of victory

A must-win clash for both teams can often spark a rash of cards and there can be no playing down how much is at stake in this Premier League fixture.

One player who isn’t shy of a card is Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, who has already picked up five yellows in just 17 Premier League matches.

He has also committed 28 fouls in those matches and, up against the trickery of Benrahma and Lucas Paqueta, we doubt he will tread carefully enough to avoid catching the referee’s eye.

Tip: Amadou Onana to be booked @ SP with Betfred
