Betting tips for Man City vs Wolves: Premier League preview and odds

Our expert is backing Manchester City to record a convincing victory over Wolves and Riyad Mahrez to score in Sunday’s Premier League match

Manchester City will be looking to keep the pressure on league leaders Arsenal when they host Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday (kick-off, 2pm).

After slipping up at Manchester United last weekend with a 2-1 loss, Pep Guardiola’s side got back to winning ways with a stunning second-half comeback in the 4-2 win over Tottenham on Thursday.

Wolves are hovering perilously above the relegation zone in 16th but have only lost one of their four Premier League games under Julen Lopetegui.

City to savage Wolves

Manchester City looked back to their best in the second half against Tottenham on Thursday as they scored four goals to secure a sensational comeback victory from two goals behind.

Pep Guardiola’s side struggled away from home against Southampton and Manchester United but should continue their five-game unbeaten run at the Etihad on Sunday.

Wolves have lost all four of their games against the traditional ‘big six’ sides in the Premier League this season without scoring, including a 3-0 defeat by City at Molineux back in September.

While they have improved under Julen Lopetegui, the visitors still look blunt in attack and have scored by far the fewest goals (12) in the Premier League this season. We expect City to kick on against Wolves and record a convincing victory to nil.

Testing day on cards for Neves

Ruben Neves has received the most yellow cards (seven) in the Premier League this season and City will present him with another test of his discipline.

Teams average 2.32 yellow cards when they face Manchester City – among the highest in the division – and Neves could be susceptible to a booking on Sunday. (Source: FBRef)

The Wolves captain looks set to be caught up in another tough midfield battle at the Etihad and we have tipped him to be shown a yellow card by referee David Coote.

Mahrez on hot streak

Riyad Mahrez inspired City’s comeback win over Spurs on Thursday night when he was involved in every goal, scoring twice himself.

The 31-year-old now has eight goals in his previous nine games in all club competitions as well as two assists – a run stretching back to before the World Cup.

City have received the second-highest number of corners in the Premier League this season (126) and average 6.63 per game – a trend we expect to continue on Sunday. (Source: Premier League)

Wolves average 4.94 corners per game this term, and while they may struggle to reach that mark at the Etihad, over 7.5 corners in the game offers good value.

Tip: Riyad Mahrez to score at any time and over 7.5 corners @ 12/5 with Betfred
