BigTen football power rankings after Week 8
It was a relatively light week on the Big Ten schedule in Week 8. The BigTen West took an interesting turn this weekend, with Illinois on a bye week. In the east, Michigan had the week off while Penn State and Ohio State did what they needed to do to prepare for next week's big division showdown in Beaver Stadium.
The Wildcats lost at Maryland. They won against Nebraska in the season-opening game.
Iowa lost to Ohio State in Week 8. Iowa scored its only touchdown in the first quarter.
Indiana lost at Rutgers. The Hoosiers have just one win in Big Ten play this season. They play Penn State at home in two weeks.
Rutgers beat Indiana in Week 8. Rutgers is still not in the postseason, but things are slowly coming together for Greg Schiano and the Scarlet Knights.
Wisconsin jumped ahead of Purdue in the Big Ten West. Illinois is on its bye week.
Michigan State is ranked 9th after a double overtime victory against Wisconsin. The next game is a big test as the Spartans go to Ann Arbor to face rival Michigan.
The Gophers lost at Penn State for the third-straight time. Minnesota has scored fewer than 20 points in each of their last three games.
Nebraska lost to Purdue last week. The Huskers are in danger of another year without a bowl trip. Nebraska has the week off before its next game.
Maryland avoided overtime against Northwestern to avoid a potential overtime struggle. The Terrapins are now bowl-eligible.
Purdue lost 21-0 to Wisconsin in Madison over the weekend.
Penn State beat Michigan in a big game. The team played well on offense and on defense.
