Boston Red Sox vs Texas Rangers Prediction 7-6-23 MLB Picks

The Texas Rangers and the Boston Red Sox meet Thursday in MLB action from Fenway Park. This will be the finale in a three-game series. The Rangers took a four-run win in the opener, then in game two the Sox evened it up with a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers posted three runs in the second inning on Tuesday and managed to hold on for the 6-2 win. In game two Texas scored a couple in the sixth but ultimately lost 4-2. Starting pitcher Jon Gray lasted 6.0 innings with three earned on nine hits and three walks.

For the starter job in the finale the Rangers will go with Nathan Eovaldi. In his 17 starts this year Eovaldi is 10-3 with a 2.64 ERA and 106 Ks in 112.1 innings. Eovaldi is 77-71 with a 4.03 ERA in 257 career games (238 starts).

Boston Red Sox

Over on the Red Sox’ side, they couldn’t get much going on 10 team hits in the Tuesday opener. On Wednesday Boston posted 10 team hits (and gave up nine) in the win. Brayan Bello lasted 7.0 innings as starter with eight hits, no walks and two earned runs.

Kutter Crawford will make the start for the Sox on Thursday. Across 16 games (eight starts) in 2023 Crawford is 3-4 with a 3.92 ERA and 55 Ks in 57.1 innings. Crawford is 6-11 with a 5.07 ERA in 38 career games (21 starts).

The Rangers are 2-7 in the last nine versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15 and the over is 7-2-1 in their last 10 Thursday games. The over is 3-1-3 in Texas’ last seven in game three of a series.

Meanwhile, the Sox are 26-10 in their last 36 versus the AL West and the under is 5-2 in the last seven in game three of a series. The over is 11-3 in Boston’s last 14 Thursday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll try Texas here. Eovaldi has a couple of good starts under his belt lately; he’s 1-0 in his last pair with two earned on six hits and six walks in 12.2 innings. As for Crawford, he’s coming off a solid win over Toronto with two earned in 5.2 frames. On Wednesday the Rangers fell behind early and couldn’t muster much on offense outside of the sixth inning. That said, six different players had a hit and the bullpen got a rest. I think Texas has a legitimate shot in the finale.
