Spurs can build on United success

While Manchester United have made a poor start to the season under Erik ten Hag, Tottenham still showed plenty of fight and flair in their 2-0 win against the Red Devils last week.

Spurs rode their luck on occasions, but they got their fans onside with an attacking and courageous display. New boss Ange Postecoglou will hope that performance was just the start of a successful season and they will travel to the South Coast with a spring in their step.

Even without Harry Kane, Tottenham will feel they can trouble Bournemouth’s backline. They have already conceded four goals in just two matches.

While the hosts should be more competitive under new coach Andoni Iraola, the Cherries have only won one of their past six in the Premier League at home.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham tip 1: Tottenham to win and both teams to score @ 11/5 with Paddy Power

Expect fireworks at the Vitality Stadium

Both meetings between these two sides were entertaining affairs last season, each ending 3-2.

Spurs won at the Vitality Stadium last October thanks to goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Ben Davies and Rodrigo Bentancur.

With both clubs now under relatively new management, there is the chance that mistakes will still creep in as players try to adjust to their new roles in competitive games.

Spurs have plenty of players in their ranks that can be classed as match winners – and if Postecoglou can get them firing, the hosts are likely to be in trouble.

Tottenham scored 14 goals in pre-season, while Bournemouth conceded six under Iraola.

Spurs have several players who are hoping to prove a point – and if the likes of James Maddison, Richarlison, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski are available, the visitors have the attacking prowess needed to rack up a favourable scoreline.

Tottenham will need to keep Solanke quiet

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has made a decent start to the campaign and he will hope he can build on his 2022-23 form. He only managed to score six goals, but it was enough to help the Cherries avoid relegation.

He has already found the net this term and looks hungry for goals. The 25-year-old has had six shots already – and with the Spurs defence looking vulnerable, he can register a shot on target this weekend.

Spurs forward Son has a decent record against Bournemouth, having scored six times against them in 10 appearances.

The South Korea international is also a fine teammate and he will look to set up Maddison, Richarlison and Kulusevski when the opportunities present themselves.

We expect an end-to-end contest, which may mean that Destiny Udogie ends up in the referee’s notebook.

The Italian has already been carded this season and no Spurs player has committed more fouls than him this season. Udogie has got forward for fun this term but he may get caught out with the Cherries set to play on the counter-attack.
