Braves vs Rangers Prediction

The Atlanta Braves and the Texas Rangers will conclude their interleague series in Austin this Wednesday from Globe Life Field. Texas took game two after scoring in three straight innings down the stretch, 7-4.

Braves Betting Preview

Atlanta dropped to 26-16 after losing to Texas. The Braves have now dropped three in a row for the third time this season, and they’ll look to figure things out before taking a trip to Austin this week to face the Rangers. The Atlanta offense is scoring 5.37  runs per game, while batting .256, with a .338 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.54 ERA, with a 1.24 WHIP. Ronald Acuna Jr. has a hit in nine of the last ten games, and he’s leading Atlanta in BA (.342) and hits (52). RBI leaders Matt Olson and Sean Murphy have been held hitless through the first two contests, as the Braves have been held to two runs here in Toronto.

Spencer Strider (4-1, 2.61 ERA, 79 Ks) will get the call for Atlanta. The second-year pitcher suffered his second loss of the season in Toronto despite pitching well. Strider tossed 12 strikeouts in 6.2 innings, while allowing just one run, but his performance was overshadowed by a complete game shutout from Chris Bassitt on the other side. Strider has cleared nine strikeouts in seven of his first eight starts this season.

Rangers Betting Preview

Texas moved to 26-16 after defeating Atlanta. The Rangers responded to a twelve-run shutout by taking down the Braves yesterday, and they’ll look to take the rubber match this Wednesday. The Texas offense is scoring 4.37 runs per game, while batting .264, with a .338 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.72 ERA, with a 1.18 WHIP. Jonah Heim has caught fire at the plate, and after recording multiple hits in four of the last five games, he leads Texas in batting (.321). Marcus Semien also has multiple hits in three of his last five games, and he’s up to 35 RBI with a .296 BA. Adonis Garcia produced a pair of runs in last night’s win, and he leads the Rangers in HR (11) and RBI (44).

Nathan Eovaldi (5-2, 2.70 ERA, 56 Ks) will take the mound for Texas. The twelve-year veteran is enjoying one of the stretches of his career. Eovaldi has tossed three straight shutouts into the ninth inning, with a complete game against the Yanks, and a season-high twelve strikeouts in Oakland last week. Eovaldi has delivered five straight quality starts since a rocky start to the season, and he’ll look to keep things going in Austin here.

Atlanta vs Texas Trends

Atlanta is 21-21  the spread this season, with a 22-19-4  O/U record. Texas is 25-17 ATS this year, with a 22-18-2 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Atlanta and Texas have enjoyed a high-scoring series through two, and I think the arms controlled the pace in game three. Spencer Strider put together another strong showing last week in Toronto, but was outdueled by the veteran Chris Bassitt, and there’s a chance the exact same thing happens with Nathan Eovaldi pitching the best ball of his career right now. Trust Texas in game three of this interleague set.
