B/R's College Football Weekly Awards: Week 10
Georgia dethroned Tennessee and LSU launched Alabama from its pedestal in the nightcap of the Week 10 games. Notre Dame's upset win over Clemson also played a role in B/R's College Football Weekly Awards.
Georgia defeated Tennessee 27-13 in the SEC clash. Georgia will replace Tennessee at No. 1 in CFP rankings. Georgia is the reigning champions. Tennessee's offense managed just 289 yards. The Vols were aiming for an SEC title and a trip to the College Football Playoff.
Clemson is still unbeaten, but Notre Dame upset them 35-14. The result improves the Irish's record to 6-3. Clemson is not officially out of the CFP race, if TCU loses and the Pac-12 gets messy.
SMU and Houston combined for 140 points in SMU's 77-63 win. The last time the two teams met, Houston won 75-61. SMu and the Cougars will meet in the Jan. 5.
Alabama and LSU were tied at 15-15 at the end of the fourth quarter. Alabama scored a touchdown to go ahead 21-17. LSU scored 24-21 on Mason Taylor's touchdown grab. Will Reichard's field goal made it 31-31. Roydell Williams scored for Alabama. Jayden Daniels and Mason Tayler scored on a two-point conversion to give LSU a 32- 31 victory.
Bo Nix has scored at least five touchdowns for the third straight week and fifth time in 2022. Saturday he completed 20 of 24 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught an 18-yard touchdown.
Illinois lost to Michigan State 23-15. The team was a 15.5-point favorite. Illinois is 7-1 and has a good chance to win the Big Ten title and make the College Football Playoff.
Hugh Freeze's Liberty team is 8-1 and has a chance to make a New Year's Six bowl. North Carolina State beat Wake Forest 30-21 despite losing their star quarterback Devin Leary for the season. Ohio and Buffalo are in a three-way tie in the MAC East.
No. 10 Alabama plays at No. 11 Ole Miss. No 22 UCF takes on No 16 Tulane. TCU takes the field against No 18 Texas. The game has huge implications in the Big 12 Championship Game. It's a must-win game for TCU.
