Bulls vs. Cavaliers NBA Player Props, Odds: Picks and Predictions for Wednesday

sportsbookreview.com

A struggling Chicago squad heads to Cleveland to take on one of the leading teams in the East, and we’re offering our favorite Bulls vs. Cavaliers NBA player props based on the best NBA odds.

The Chicago Bulls aim to maintain momentum following a victory against the Atlanta Hawks and seek to improve their position in the Eastern Conference standings. However, their upcoming challenge involves facing the Cleveland Cavaliers at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, presenting a formidable obstacle in their quest for success.

While the Bulls did drop 136 points in their victory over the Hawks, Chicago has been struggling offensively all season. Now the team must go toe-to-toe with a Cavs defense that’s among the NBA's best. There likely won't be a lot of points in this matchup, and while Donovan Mitchell's club has been playing more consistently over the last month and a half, it’s still just 5-5 across Cleveland's last 10.

A win for Chicago could go a long way with the Bulls sitting as the ninth seed in the East. However, our best sports betting sites are listing Cleveland among the top 10 in the NBA Finals odds.

This isn’t a team that the Bulls want to be playing right now. Cleveland had ripped off nine straight wins before falling to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, and J.B. Bickerstaff’s group has dropped just two of its last 19 outings. Between its defensive prowess and the superstar play of Mitchell, the Cavs are one of the NBA's toughest outfits.

To complement our NBA Best bets for Wednesday, here are our best Bulls vs. Cavaliers NBA player props and NBA picks (odds via our best NBA betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Donovan Mitchell Over 3.5 threes made (-105 via FanDuel, DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The addition of Mitchell in Cleveland has been making all the difference for Bickerstaff’s offense. While the Cavaliers are just 15th in points per game while averaging 115, that’s way up from ranking 25th in the league over the past two seasons. That’s the Mitchell effect, with the five-time All-Star averaging 28.3 points per game, tied for his career high.

Mitchell is now poised to push a Chicago defense that’s struggling to defend the three. The Bulls allow the NBA's most threes per game with 14.4, and opponents are shooting 36.7% from deep against Chicago. Billy Donovan’s squad has particularly struggled with shooting guards, allowing the most threes to two guards in the league at 3.89 per game.

Given the Bulls' issues against threes, Mitchell will enjoy plenty of opportunities to expose Chicago’s perimeter defense. He's logging the fifth-highest usage rate in the NBA among players who have played at least 40 games at 31.2%. Mitchell also takes the third-most threes per game in the NBA at 9.2. He's hitting 36.3% of his attempts from deep while averaging 3.3 per game, and Mitchell been on a heater lately.

The veteran has knocked down at least four threes in six of his last eight games and in 13 of his previous 20 games. He’s averaging 3.75 threes per game on 9.5 attempts (39.5%) during that stretch, and he doesn’t look ready to slow down against the Bulls.

Nikola Vucevic Under 18.5 points (-115 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐

Mitchell and his offensive excellence will make the headlines, but this Cavaliers team is built around its dominant defense.

The Cavs are second in the NBA in points allowed per game at just 109.3, and they rank second in defensive rating this season. The frontcourt combo of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen have been the anchor for one of the league’s best defenses, and Nikola Vucevic faces a tough matchup.

The two-time All-Star is averaging 17.6 points per game while scoring at least 19 points in 24 of his 49 contests. However, Cleveland is among the NBA's best teams at slowing down big men. The Cavaliers allow the seventh-fewest points per game to centers at 21.1 per game, and they held Vucevic to just 17 the last time these two teams played.

The 33-year-old has been trying to find a major piece of his game this season too. Vucevic is shooting just 27.7% from three in 2023-24, his lowest percentage since 2015. A long night lies ahead due to Vucevic’s inability to stretch the floor and the Cavs' defensive dominance.

Alex Caruso Over 2.5 blocks and steals (+105 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐

Despite the team's overall issues, Chicago's defense has still been among the most reliable in the East. The Bulls are allowing 113 points per game to rank 11th in the league, and they sit ninth in steals with 7.7 and 14th in blocks with 5.3.

The leader in both categories for the Windy City is Alex Caruso, who's averaging 1.3 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. After making first-team All-Defense in 2022-23, Caruso is averaging a career-high in combined blocks and steals with 2.5 this season. He’s been even better lately while averaging 1.6 steals and 1.9 blocks over his last 13 games. Caruso has also registered at least three combined blocks and steals 11 times during that stretch.

Opponents average 7.7 steals and five blocks per game against the Cavs during 2023-24, with small forwards averaging 2.2 combined blocks and steals against them. Caruso has notched at least three combined blocks and steals 21 times across 46 games this campaign.
