Can Formula 1 Overtake NASCAR in the USA?

Formula 1 has made some progress in growing its fan base and revenue in the United States of America. In the spring, the sport hosted its first Miami Grand Prix around the grounds of the Hard Rock Stadium. This was followed by the announcement that Miami and the older United. States Grand GP in Texas would be joined by a third addition to the calendar – the Las Vegas Grand prix.

Formula 1 has made some progress in growing its fan base and revenue in the United States of America. The Las Vegas Grand Prix will be a joint venture between the sport's owners, the city and the local casino operators. NASCAR is the quintessential American motorsport.

NASCAR has a distinct advantage in being a domestic sport with a lot of local legends. Most of the talent, knowledge and experience needed to succeed in Formula 1 is based in Europe. The only F1 team that is technically American is Haas, but it does a majority of its work in England.

F1 has become a media powerhouse thanks to social media and the creation of the Netflix series, Drive to Survive. F1 partners with celebrities and influencers to attract new fans.  Can Formula 1 Overtake NASCAR in the USA?

Formula 1 is making inroads into the United States. TV viewing figures for Formula 1 in the USA are at the highest they've been. The United states Grand Prix and Texas’ Circuit of the Americas has established itself as a firm favourite among fans, teams, and drivers.
